Nude driver defends his actions, claims constitutional right to drive naked

A man charged with indecent exposure says he has a right to drive naked and wants the charges against him dismissed.

An attorney for David Lawrence Moore, 52, has filed several motions in District Court seeking to have four felony charges dismissed. In the motions, attorney Robert Stephens said his client broke no laws and has a constitutional right to operate his motor vehicle while nude.

Moore was charged Nov. 3 by prosecutors who said four women complained that Moore exposed himself on Oct. 28 in separate incidents. Two incidents occurred at coffee kiosks, one near Rimrock Mall and the other in Laurel. Female employees at the kiosks said Moore pulled up in a white truck and was naked.

"I'm comfortable like this," Moore said, according to court records.

Stephens also filed notice that he intends to challenge the constitutionality of the law.

"The admonition �if you don't like what you see, don't look' applies to the alleged victims in this case," Stephens said.

County Attorney Dennis Paxinos said Tuesday that he disagrees with Moore's attorney.

"Some people's constitutional rights end when others are exposed to their shortcomings," he said.”
