JVZ started discussion of Cinco de Mayo at Sudwerk in Davis on the Sierra Nevada thread. Who all is into it? Need directions? He said he would be there at 3pm.

Davis -- the world's capital of liberal political correctness.

Stay away and stay sane.

Where is the antithesis of Davis, so that we all might become sane once again? Gordon, lead us to the promised land!
BTW, I think you were a few counties off. Marin is farther south than Davis.

I thought Berkeley was the PC capital.

I've never had a problem with anyone in Davis.

Maybe what Gordon is calling Liberal Politcal Correctness is the same thing the rest of us call "manners". Don't know, since I've never met him, but it's a hunch.

I would love to come to Davis tomorrow and drink a few cool ones.
But alas, 2200 miles is a long drive.

Pepperdog, I'm gonna try to make that... Got "Greek Easter" obligations here in the valley, but mid/late afternoon should allow for an early departure...

Directions WOULD be nice... or do I have to search Goggle?

Davis, Berkeley, Marin. They are all suburbs of L.A. and part of the southern California mindset of neo-liberalism and faux environmentalism. Their idea of saving energy is slowing the SUV's to 55 as they visit the drive-through organic salad bar on their way to a global warming fund raising concert by a rap-metal-reggae group.

I support the idea of splitting CA in two and giving the inferior southern part back to Mexico.

Of course, I suggest splitting at a Quincy-Chico-Fort Bragg line. Everything south of there is looneyville. The real Superior California is north of that line.

I'll send you my water if you promise to stay down there. I'll even flush twice and give you extra.

Gordon, I'm right behind you. If you characterize Southern Cal as a hotbed of liberalism, then I want to live in your world. Where do I get the special glasses?

Obviously the special glasses let you see right past any geographical inconsistencies in arguments like the one above.

Anyone with enough stregnth of character to withstand the liberal onslaught of The People's Republic of Davis is welcome.

To get there, take 80 to the Mace Blvd exit. Go North on Mace, take a left at 2nd Street (right at the bottom of the freeway overcrossing) and go about a mile and a half to Sudwerk. I will be sitting outside enjoying a beer. Mention Trail Talk at the door.

Obi - hope you can make it. It would be fun to see you again. Navi - I wish you could drag yourself away from that conservative hot bed and join us. Solitary - please tell them Davis has something for everyone, even a Libertarian Southern boy like you! Gordon ---- oh, I won't bother.......

I just got word that the timeline for the project I'm working on has been moved up, so I think I can make it there by 3:00 or so. I look forward to meeting you!

Gordon - I consider all of California to be a suburb of Disneyland. The rest is not looneyville, it is "Toon Town".

Wish I could make it to the Davis celebration, but too far away and too busy.

Why do Americans celebrate cinco de mayo? Isn't the 4th of July our national holiday?
steve hiker

steve hiker - I think it is an American tradition to find reasons to celebrate every chance we get even if it isn't our ethnic background (e.g., St. Patrick's Day, Cinco de Mayo). Heck, our family used to celebrate Beethoven's Birthday (ala Schroeder in Peanuts)!!

And why bother with a second rate school like UC Davis -- clearly inferior to Joe's Barber College.

The hypocrites there will make you barf. Davis is in the forefront of the movement to ban derogatory school mascots, yet their own name is the 'Aggies' -- a derogatory term for farmers (I guess that's OK because farming, like ranching and logging, is no longer a politically correct occupation).

There is a reason UC Davis graduates are on an increasing number of 'do not hire' lists.

Well it's 8:35 PM so I guess you Davis guys have been drinking hard and heavy for over two hours now. I'm drinking a nice lager right now, here at the computer, but right there with you in spirit. A toast to all TTers no matter what town or political persuasion you are!

Gordon,
Ligten up baby! You need to go to Davis. It's a great little town. I'm a Sierra Club, rightwing, card carrying NRA Buchanan Luddite, anti-NWO-WTO-IMF
Earth Firster, Secessionist, anarcho-fascist. I loved it in Davis and got along with the locals just fine.

Well, I was the last to leave the brew ha and first to chipe in here. I arrived about 3:00 and walked out to the patio. Didn't see anybody that fit my percieved expectation of a TT'er so headed back in to the bar. Cozied up to the bar and ordered a Hefewieven and inquired to the barkeep about TT'ers present. Out of the corner of my eye I see see someone snicker and come over. It was P-Dog. I introduced myself as Gordon. You should of seen her eyes light up! I thought she was gonna belt me across the chops. After I told her who I really was she was just as nice as can be. Met the others... JVZ and Deb, and Phaedrus. It was good time afterall. Gossiped about other TT'ers and such (gotta meet Solitary Hiker someday. Sounds like my kind of kind of guy - not in a homo way either).

Yo Gordy, I even wore my redneck camo hunting hat and no one said boo. I think you're misinformed about Davis. The few I know from there are all beer drinkin' duck hunters. Stop reading those liberal rag newwpapers. Hell, the valley is conservative compared to the Bay Area.

Hey Pantscandy, it was great to meet you and everyone!

When Pantscandy got there, told Pepperdog he was Gordon, and then went to the bathroom, she came back and told us Gordon was there. Prior to that, we had all been talking and laughing...

Good joke, Pants.

It was a good time, and right after we were done drinking, everyone got together and sang a few rounds of Kumbaya, followed by a gay rights parade around the Sudwerk yard, and an impromptu gun control rally! All that activity really had me sweating toward the end. If it weren't for my hemp-fiber clothing I might have really been uncomfortable. Luckily, though, Pepperdog and JVZ were quick to point out that the vegan food we had all been eating would keep me from needing to wear deodorant at all. I thanked them with a gift of crystals and granola.

What a good time! Gordon, you've got to show up next time, you'll love it!

In all seriousness, though, good people and good beer. What more can you ask for?

I got a beer and we hiked out to the patio. Great to hear you're back in front of the pc Pantscandy.I couldn't have made it home w/o Deb. That special brew beer is great stuff but caught up with me faster than my usual Coors diet. It was great seeing you again Pepperdog have fun at camp. Nice to meet Phaedrus too. Hope to do some sort of hike with you all someday.

Phaedrus, way to go, lunkhead. How can we keep up our Phaedrus = kleetn charade when you go around showing your face in California?

I guess I will have to go on alone. Thank God no one has made the connection between Biz and me, especially after I buried AmyG's body in the Kansas cornfield near Dunadan's house (after being beamed from Marvin's mothership.)

One word of advice: go easy on Gordon. It's not easy being a fodderless cannon.

Kleetn, You're so right. I completely forgot to be you, as I was so busy being me. Of course, when Marvin's transformer array device fails like that, what can I do? I was Biz two days ago, but had to change back due to female issues.

JVZ, We've got to plan a hike sometime in the late summer, if you're game.

I knew there was a reason that the border patrol was patrolling Sacramento!

I'm headed to Marin county today to get some cheap tequila, enchiladas and a good case of the runs! WOO HOOO!!! After that, I'm opening a shoe factory in Lodi!

Now that the wool of liberalism has been lifted from my eyes, I have a whole range of opportunities for financial repression of people right here in Northern California!!!

Thanks GORDON!!!!

Who mentioned Mexican food in Placentia?
...I'm jealous of the dirtlovers up in Berkley who hang out and drink together. I'm in Costa Mesa and am willing to take the short drive to Placentia. Gordon is invited I know how much you hate liberal Orange County, we can drive by the Nixon Library if you want.
