Yosemite Falls Pictures / Report

“It's only a day hike, but I have posted the pictures and report to my website. I think I took more pictures on this day hike than I have on most backpacking trips!

Pennsy Hiker, It takes me 1.5 hours to get to the entrance gate from my house. I consider myself blessed indeed to live so close. I even went there for a few hours after work just to meet someone!

Pemsit, The important thing is that you made it, not how long it took! I'm still trying to learn that one!

Thinair, I'd love to join you on your Half Dome trip. I'll be there (forth time) June 1 & 2. I hope that in some small way I can bring Glory to God through my website as well as influence others to get out there!”

I read that's a pretty tough trail. How would you rate it?”

“Good question Hikerchick. I had a friend of mine who is in pretty good shape tell me he had a hard time near the top. So I was really ready for the worst.

I didn't think it was too bad. The boy that was with us, Mike, had a pretty slow pace going up and we ended up resting a lot to wait for him, so maybe that helped.

If you have done the Four Mile Trail without problems, this one isn't too much worse.

After having hiked Half Dome up and back in 12 hours and the Four Mile Trail up and back in about 5 hours, I would rate this about 8.5 from 1 to 10, with 10 being most difficult.

How's the Tuolumne Meadows trip planning coming along? If you are hitting the trail on Saturday the 27th, I can go as far as Glen Aulin and then return home Sunday.”

“Hikin' Mike, when did you do the hike? I hiked Yosemite Falls last Saturday (April 27th). This past weekend I spent 4 days backpacking above Hetch Hetchy.”

“Same day! We left about 8:30 AM, stayed at the top for about an hour or so and was back at the car around 3 PM.

We probably past each other and didn't realize it!”

“Yeah we did, we started about 10-1030 and were down around 4pm. Did you see the lady who hurt her shoulder? We passed her on the way down near the bottom of upper falls.”

Tekapo, Thanks! I don't think I'll be bringing the point-and-shoot for a while. I'm going try and learn more about the SLR. Certainly much more potential for good pictures.”

“I was with a group of 8 including 3 Asians (Vietnamese and Laotian) and 1 Irishman, I think we reached the top of Upper Falls around 12:30 to 1:00. We were also camped at Camp 4 right at the trailhead.”

“We could have passed each other. I saw lots of groups. We didn't camp at Camp 4, just came up for the day.”
