The Sierra's Tyee lakes Backpack and Sno wshoe

“JDSmiling, Snow Nymph and WLD met at the Tyee Lakes Trailhead to backpack up into the Tyee Lakes area. It was an awesome trip with many ups and downs which only the Sierras in the spring time can offer.

I knew that was a SnowNymph sighting high on the ridge above...before I got to the next slide :)

“Phil it is located on the right hand side of the road as you head to South Lake. You will see the trailhead sign and a bridge... But the dirt parking area has a brush/bushes divider between the road and the parkig area. So if you are not looking for it you will drive right past it.”

The hard part is picking out only 36 photos, when there's 3 rolls to pick from.

This was a great trip! I wanted to hike a new area, and had never done this one because its only 3 miles in. With the snow and elevation, 3 miles is about all we needed to do. I want to go back again and hike all the way to Sabrina Lake.

Even with all the postholing, JDSmiling was always smiling or laughing. This was her first time snowshoeing. We all had a great time!

Tyee Lakes, named for a famed brand of salmon eggs, boasts good fishing. Rainbow and Brown Trout can be found in these lakes.”

Probably because we were sliding a lot. Trying to ski down on snowshoes with a 35 lb pack, AND wearing shorts, isn't easy. And I was a pretty good skier at one time.

WLD got the idea of the "Carl's Jr six dollar burger" in his head, so we were trying to keep up with him.”

I've been so used to snowshoes lately that on my Yosemite Falls hike, something just didn't feel right...solid ground!
