“I'm gonna be passing through Mark Twain NF this summer, and would like suggestions and info about the best hiking opportunities. Any relevant information would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe (aka "slasher" - hehehee!)” 12:14:42 PM 5/08/02 gojo “which mtf will you be in? would like to meet you. and will sarabelle be with you...Khatru wants to meet her.” 9:23:58 PM 5/08/02 “I will be passing through in a straight line from the SE corner to KCMO (don't ask). I believe that route will pass directly through a unit or two of the forest. Okay - since you DID ask... I drew a straight line on my atlas from my place in GA to where my bro lives in ID. Since I've almost become "bored" with the drive betwixt said locales, I've decided to take the most direct route possible this summer. I'll use every pig trail available, if neccessary...” 11:54:08 AM 5/09/02 I know you travel alot “but the backroads through Missouri are treacherous. take you forever to get anywhere. but...I live in the bootheel (south east corner, Kennett) I'd hook up with you for a weekend or something if time is right, but if not...welcome to Missouri. I nice trail section and something nice to see is Johnson's Shut Ins State Park. Also is VanBuren and the Ozark National Scenic River Ways (National Park) Go see Big Springs...its awsome...heart of the Ozarks. Trails, I'm not really familiar...I hiked the OT/McCormick Greer Trail along the 11 points River...nice over looks of the river...gonna be hosting a TT canoe trip there next weekend, should be a blast. Also the OT in VanBuren section. As far as other trails...I'm not too sure, I've been concentrating on the Ozark Trail. Sorry I can't provide you with more info.” 8:15:14 PM 5/09/02 Thanks, Stikky - “I've been to GORP, and all their MO trail reviews are pretty much the same. I'll keep studying-up. I'll be passing through the heel, I think. I remember river crossings being limited, so I'll cross wherever is closest to my "line". I was raised on treacherous dirt roads. I ain't skeert! Thnks for your responses.” 10:27:36 AM 5/10/02
