WW2 - Germany declared war on US, not the other way round. Four years after German invasion of France, D-Day. Don;t know if you've looked at the map recently but you have to go through France to get to Germany.

Post WW2, France decided to take care of a large proportion of it's own defence, and remained a partial if not full member of Nato. I would have thought you'd have appreciated a country wanting to take care of itself.

Korea - More part of a glabal battle again communism - granted America saved the world from the growing threat, but America couldn't afford the rest of the world to gradualyl become communist.

First gulf war. America takes lead role in global effort to secure vast majority of oil in the world. America could be held to ransom by Iraqi dictator gradually taking control of more of the world's oil supplies.
Just war and America led the way.

Second gulf war - started to secure America's long term strategic interests. Freedom and democracy will hopefulyl be byproduct, as the therory holds that once democracy thrives, the economy becomes the priority, securing a key friend for America which willhopefully produce a large amount of oil at a resonabe price creating stable conditions for economic growth in America.
Also indirectly to tackle terror by ensuring big America presense in region enabling an increase of pressure on certain states - backfired.

America is a great country, but like every other country its foreign policy is based on pragmatism and its national interest.
