wow, we just had a 4.2 in our area this morning but didn't feel a thing...crash, did you feel anything?

4.2 earthquake hits north central Indiana

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 4.2 magnitude earthquake centered about 13 miles southeast of Kokomo at 7:55 a.m. today.

Reports to the Star felt the quake as far south as Martinsville and as far west as Anderson. People on the Northeastside of Indianapolis and in Noblesville said items were shaking on shelves.

Gabrielle Sauce, who co-owns an advertising/marketing company agency in Noblesville, said she was working while sitting on her couch when "the house began to rattle and shake. It lasted probably 5 to 7 seconds."

Cool - assuming no damage. We haven't had a 4 all week:

Actually I've lived in CA for several years and the only earthquake I ever felt was sleeping in a water bed while house-sitting for a friend. It raised a tsunami that threw me out of bed. I thought it was the devil, so I said a prayer and went back to sleep. Found out in the morning we had an earthquake.

You too huh?

We were having lunch and didn't feel a thing but saw people all up and down the street coming out of their buildings and looking around.

We walked back to the office and everyone was outside and afraid to go back in. We're in two-story building on stilts over the parking lot and it was apparently swaying a lot.

I know you Kalifornicators are getting a good chuckle from this.

Laurel and my neighbor were both freaked out about it. Took 20 minutes to calm Laurel down. Indoor cats didn't care too much, although one's staying put in the bathtub. THe outdoor cats took off for higher ground. Rather interesting.

I forgot all about the nuke plant less than 3 miles from me. Nothing's glowing or burned away, so I guess it's fine. That, and the big dam right next to it. ;)

They say the Mississippi ran backwards that day but that it was probably an optical illusion. If it ever happens again, lots o people will be in a world of hurt...
