So who prefers to sleep under the stars and who likes to escape the skeeters inside the tent?

a decent winter fall or spring night, a night under the stars is great, a night with the bugs is much better spent in a tent, along with a night in the rain, or cold, or just for a place to get away from the 'critters'.

Imagine this thread will go the same way as the last thread with a similar name?

I thought this was about packs ; )
I like a tent with lots of mesh....leave the fly off when the weather is nice and it's almost as good as sleeping under the stars without a tent. Them Sierra skeeters would drive ya nuts without one!

No skeeters or rain in the desert when I have been.

However, the thought of waking up with a tarantula in the bag with me keeps me zipped up in the tent.

I've never had trouble sleeping out in the desert. No skeeters, no snakes, and no scorpions :)

Innie - don't like critters sniffing at my face while I'm sleeping. And then there's the Sierra skeeters......

A cool expirience while sleeping out:)
Talk about critters in your face! I was camping with three friends down in a canyon(which was illegal by-the-way). Since two of them wernt really campers they were afraid of all the noices and criters. They all slept inside a tent, i slept outside on the warm riversand. When i woke in the morning there were paw prints circling me (a coyote i think) only inches from my body! And across the river on the opposite side, were fresh bear tracks in the mud. And i didn't wake to any of this!....Perhaps it was better i hadnt.

Innie. If something's gonna eat me, it'll have to pull me outta the wrapper first!
