I need to get my Mom hooked up to the www. She is inheriting my old machine (P133, W95) The new version of AOL requires alot more than this machine can handle but the system requirements for MSN seem like they'll fit. Does anyone use this and have strong opinions either way? She needs ease of use and will mostly be using it for e-mailing. I don't think at this point she'll need unlimited service, but maybe she will if she discovers TT.
Thanks guys and dolls.

Gave her your OLD machine?! sheesh.. dont like her much huh?

win 95 is no longer supported by microsoft.

if shes a total newbie then aol is the best choice.
if she has any real skills then just get a regular isp account and use IE or mozilla to browse ect.

msn is somewhat lacking in content.

I've known people to have MSN they liked it. I used to use Earthlink before I got my broadband and I really liked it.

Hey DOM, she is probably just gonna use it to put plants on! I've offered on countless occassions (well, a coupla times) to buy her a new "git-up" but she has refused. Being the Depression era gal that she is, she can't see it going to waste. I thought it a victory to get her to give up her rotary phone service! I encouraged her to try it for 6 months, if she doesn't want it after that, she can give it away.

oh i c... well maybe she needs the fastest plant stand on the market :}

most likely a technophobe... have you considered a "web appliance" instead. supposedly they are adaquate for e-mail and light browsing. dont take much space and can be stored when not in use.

My dad, 74 years 'young' recently switched to MSN. It seems to work well for him, and he just started doing the internet about 3 years ago. I was amazed that he even changed providers!
