I just finished posting pictures of the backpacking trip to Henry Coe State Park in California that I took with my wife and our two daughters (4 & 1).

Check it out at The Backcountry: Sierra View Camp

That's great you're able to get the kids and wife out for a little backpacking trip. I'm sure your little ones will grow up to love the outdoors. Yeah for Hikin Mike & Family!

Great pictures and story, Mike! Reminded me of my girls when they were that young. You are very blessed to have such a happy family.

How sweet!!!
Fantastic trip report and pictures! It reminds me of when Sauron was little which seems like just yesterday. They grow up so quickly. It sounds like you are appreciating every moment.

Thanks for sharing MIke! I enjoyed your pictures and commentary very much.
Birch and I have a 15mo old daughter too. She's been on one overnighter so far and a few car camping trips. Nothing since she's become mobile though. We're planning a trip for the 4th of July weekend and are anxious to see how she does. Should be an adventure.

No matter what the age, camping and hiking with kids is ALWAYS an adventure.

It's amazing the things they do.

Very well done, Mike.

That's your best yet. Great photos. Great storyline. Can't wait for the next one.

When the girls approach their teens, are you thinking of moving back to PA? You know, sell the car, get a horse-and-buggy, and pretty much become Amish? You do have a beautiful family, you know.

The jersey's look familiar, BTW.

Thanks to all...
... of you for your kind words! It is a real encouragement. That includes you too, BOO HOO.

I'm already thinking about another family trip. Maybe in September, to a different location.

Snow Nymph, We left the camcorder at home. Too much other stuff to worry about!

Tekapo, I have 90% of the pictures back from my day hike on the Snow Creek Trail in Yosemite. I'll be backpacking a total of 9 days in the next 3 weeks. I should have plenty of material to post!

I Don't think I'm ready to go Amish yet! I wondered if you would notice the shirts. Won't be long now for you guys? A week is it?

Mike- 9 days is what we're shooting for. 7am on the 31st is when it's all s'posed to happen.

I'm beside myself when they move around and respond to talking and poking. When we talk, they especially get jumpy. They move around quite a bit. Absolutely astonishing. The whole thing.
