Why does this retort always enter into the discussion? What kind of twisted logic is required for a statement like this to make sense?

“All right, I'll weigh in one more time here. Mother Goose and I spent our Thanksgiving last year at Hobb's Cabin. Both our parents are gone, we have no kids, so it seemed like the perfect thing to do.
We hiked to the cabin fully expecting to have it all to ourselves. I was just fixin' to pee off the back deck when a feminine voice yells, "Hello, there!" I quickly zip up, walk to the front and two ladies walk up with their packs on. "Can we share the cabin?", one asks. I'm thinking to myself, "Well, merde, there goes the friggin' weekend". But what am I gonna do, tell 'em, hell no, you'll have to sleep on the ground? So, like the softy I am, I tell the girls to bring their stuff in, Sylvia and I will move our belongings and make room. Before long, it became apparent that these two were a couple. Nothing blatant, but it was evident. Neither Mother Goose or myself were uncomfortable. They were both congenial, pleasant company. A good weekend was had by all.
And yes, bacpac and gordon(and all the rest of BOO HOO's manifestations), I would have been just as comfortable had they been male, as long as they had the same demeanor as the women.
We ran into each other later at the winery in Monteagle. Hugs all 'round. I'd hike with either of them any time.
The point to all this rambling is that some buttheads on this site make a lot of unwarranted suppositions. People who know me will tell whoever will listen that I am anything but liberal. What I am is tolerant. I don't give a rat's a$$ how you conduct your life as long as you don't try to force your mores down my throat. If you're pleasant, I will be as well.

The hike is still on for the last of September. I'm going out there this Sunday around 4:00. I'll be leaving from the bridge area heading up turkey creek. I plan to camp at the 2nd waterfall. I will be doing some cross country on Monday and come out on the old Cullman motorway back down and cross Sipsey. Then up around Fall creek Falls and back out Monday evening. Come on out if you like.

For myself: Its wrong to be doing it on the trail whether its two guys, two gals, a guy and gal or 7 guys, four gals and 16 circus animals.

The fact that I might get off on seeing two gals and would be turned off by seeing two guys - IMHO - has nothing to do with the right or wrong of it. (Bad analogy warning). Similarly, I think its wrong to listen to loud music in a crowded shelter at midnight.
