hydration systemsView MessagesAnother Tip “Someone mentioned that water in the tube got warm and tasted stale. What I do is bite the block, blow the water back into the reservoir and then suck fresh cool water back into the hose. It's then fresh AND cold. I always use half water and half ice. It stays cool all day and as the ice melts it resupplies the h2o.” 8:06:18 PM 5/28/02 “On another thread I tried to explain sucking and blowing water in the hose, and it sounded dirty.....” 10:34:50 PM 5/28/02 “Those plastic bags in those hydration systems seem so fragile...one little poke and you'll end up with wet gear...plus you'll be thirsty. Anyone had this problem? I trust my Nalgenes.” 10:46:36 PM 5/28/02 “That's why I like the MSR dromedary. It's made of tough material so you can drop it or whatever and it won't spring a leak.” 10:51:23 PM 5/28/02 pur filter “will the msr dromedary bag screw onto a pur hiker filter?? will any of the camelbak bags??” 5:10:00 PM 5/29/02 “stanlee, My CamelBaks have their own compartment for the reservoir. They each have countless hours and lots of abuse with no failures to date. Everyone I know uses one brand or another for biking and hiking and no complaints to my knowledge.” 6:07:04 PM 5/29/02 Snow Nymph “I'm not even going there.;-) We'll discuss it at Montanapalooza” 6:09:01 PM 5/29/02 “The wide mouth piece on the pur hiker hose fits right into the dromedary opening. Very easy and convenient.” 6:20:07 PM 5/29/02 “thanks steve hiker.... i think i just might go for the dromedary units....” 6:22:16 PM 5/29/02
