State Parks
I was talking to someone on another thread about this and it got me to thinking. (i know thats scarry but bear with me)anyway I stayed ata State Park in NJ last summer with my sister. All day and all night the troopers drive up and down the campsite. It made it hard to kick back and drink a couple of beers (ok maybe alot) so now I go out of my way to find a private park to car camp with my family. Have you found that in State Parks near you?
ps they really dont like it when they catch you skinny dipping! that makes them very very mad. but hay the lake was Awsome and with the beer I didnt even notice how cold the water was
oh by the way anyone in NJ find a pair of underwear on the beach in Clinton?

LOL

Seriously, though....
I can't remember if alcoholic beverages are banned in Alabama's state parks or not. Anyway, I've had a beer or two while kicking back at the state park near here, and never had any problems. Maybe in the state parks that are in dry counties it's a problem.

Also, I've never seen a state trooper, or any law in a state park here, other than the park rangers themselves.

We are at WAR
There is a nuclear power plant in our neighborhood. The parks nearby are patrolled all the time. The Coast Guard has a boat in the area, and helicopters fly around all the time.

All this activity started post 9/11. Is your park next to a nuclear garbage dump?

And can you imagine the picture of his family all together for a reunion, in the shadow of the nuclear cooling towers?

I was camped at Hickory Run State Park in Pa. and drinking Glen Livet. The park ranger saw the bottle on top of the picnic table me, but he was cool. "Sir, that's an awfully expensive scotch. I'd hate to have to pour it out, so my advice is to keep it out of view."

Drink out of a plastic or metal cup and enjoy. What they don't see won't bother you. Of course, if you get falling down drunk and rowdy, that's another case. In my case I wasn't bothering anybody so he let it slide.

Use a coffee cup
If you're drinking and don't want anyone to know, from a distance anyway, pour it into a coffee cup (not metal) and keep the bottle out of sight.

I didn't do well in chemistry, but experience tells me liquor in a metal cup tastes "funny." Beer in a chilled "stein" is fine.
