biz, you wouldn't believe how much skin cancer I see from AZ and NM. Tanning is not healthy. Sorry wild flower, had to give the advice.

You will also look like a dried up prune by age 40, especially if you smoke.

40 is about right.

At my 10 year high school reunion there were people who looked like that.

Geez, I'm a CSP for work and don't give out nearly as much safety oriented advice as you guys on this site.

Biz, enjoy your tan.

I just had 3 skin cancers (not the real dangerous kind) removed.

I've had two friends die of skin cancer.

Not trying to bum you out, Biz...but I say skip both the tan AND the breast implants. It's all superficial. There are better ways to improve oneself.

Work for TownDawg....
TownDawg, Biz needs you to apply the sun block on her back...since you're available.

Biz, stay out of the sun...you don't want to be a cancer sponge.

TownDawg, good luck job hunting.

TownDawg - Told you before that you can come to Florida and bag groceries with me. It's steady, people need food. But it is work. I work harder to earn $8K than I did to pull in $55K years ago, but I'm surviving.(SS and a sm. pension help, too)

Added bonus - My arms, face and the top of my head are getting great tans from chasing carts around the lot.

humanpackmule - Maybe they were 40! How long did it take you to get through school? LOL

Pathman - Ah, to look 40 again. At least, I'm working on it.

Welcome to the South, skully!

How's Sauron adjusting so far?

Lyra, no Kentucky doesn't count as Southern.

Sauron's spending a month in Michigan and then a week in Florida. He won't have to start adjusting until July. If I survive it, I'll keep you posted ; )

Oh yeah, and thanks for the welcome! I think I'm in heaven, they have real sweet tea everywhere!!!

Cool, Scully. I go to Jaawja occasionally since my sister in law lives there. I think we are doing Thanksgiving there this year. You could meet us at REI for Black Friday! (kidding, usually we head out early to a mall to demonstrate our masochism).

My grandfather called me a Yankee once because I ordered unsweet tea. It still stings a bit....lol...

And for all you Yankees who are thinking "huh? there's sugar right on the table, isn't there?", it's not the same. If you don't sweeten the tea when it's hot, the sugar doesn't stay in solution well, and tends to sink to the bottom of the glass.

Nowslimmer most of us made it out in the usual amount of time.

My high school was exactly three blocks from the Atlantic Ocean so most of the kids were beach bums and spend a huge amount of time in the sun getting baked. I remember some of the surfers would show up at school after coming straight from the surf, skip lunch surf some more and right after school (if they bothered to come back) they were out again.

It didn't take long for most of them to start looking like old boot leather. I was suprised at how bad some of them looked after only 10 years.

Duh! I always wondered why people ordered sweet tea as opposed to ice tea. I have been around southerners all my life and no one ever explained that. Are you sure that you aren't making it up?

Wow LyndyS, I've never had the nerve to go shopping on Black Friday. You have my deepest respect! Ummm...and sympathies, lol! Atlanta's only 150 miles from here, this could actually be doable. We'll have to plan something.

I have probably sinned by letting a Yankee in on one of the deep, hidden secrets of the South.

The reason I used to always get unsweet tea (remember, in the South, you must order it that way or get sweet) is because of the variation in what's considered "sweet". It goes from "just barely enough sugar to be able to taste it", to "this is tea-flavored pancake syrup".

Now I just get water.

Umm, Scully, isn't Atlanta, like 150 miles wide? My sister-in-law lives in Alpharetta, so hopefully you don't live on the opposite side of the city, or it will be even farther. There is a lot of things to see in or near Atlanta. We've only been to Stone Mountain, so maybe there is a place that we could meet you at, or we could brave the shopping hordes(:D

my grandma is the queen of tea-flavored pancake syrup, i know exactly what you mean! and she wonders why we're always bouncing off the walls...

I know that when I ask for sweet tea and I'm told it's seasonal I have left civilization and I'm among the infidels.

I love the look I get when I ask for sugar and they give me one or two packets and tell them I need a handfull.

Sweet Tea a gift from the Gods
I've been in Texas almost two and a half years now and Sweet Tea is where it's at!! Yeah, baby!

In fact, when I have to travel for any length of time, I start having STC's and RBC's. Can't wait to get home to get mah fix!

Oh, STC's = Sweet Tea Cravings
RBC's = Real BBQ Cravings

I know, most of your dirty minds thought they were new STD's I made up, didnya?

Two things I will never get used to in The South..
...sweet tea and humidity. Mother Goose and her brothers drink sweet tea that would gag a hummingbird. My God, you have to cut that #&%!$ with a chainsaw. What is it with Southerners and sugar, anyway? Ma Goose's aunts (that's pronounced,'onts') were always saying, "Ya gotta keep yer sweets up!"
IMHO, the South's greatest contribution to society is gumbo that is so hot you can etch glass with it.
