Snow Dude --

Check out this link from Outside magazine. An asthma medicine that seems to help with HAPE. If you use it, let me know how it goes.

Sorry, Lee!
I printed the article and read it yesterday. I carry albuterol in my first aid kit (but its probably expired now). I had some kind of nagging cough a few years ago and that's what they gave me. Got me thru the trips at the time. I'll have to see if the altitude bothered me on those trips, since it was the beginning of the season. That's when it gets to me.

SnowDude doesn't get on here much, so that's why he hasn't answered.

What is dex and how does it protect the brain?
Do you have another link that talks about dex and how it protects the brain? Is this just from the lack of oxygen or is there another high altitude risk for the brain?

Here I am!
Checked out the link and it's an intersting article. I'll keep that in mind. For now I've found that going up a day early to get acclimated before the longer trips seems to do the trick. Plus it gives me a lowkey day to do some exploring or 4-wheel driving or just chilling out in the mountains. I find myself looking forward to that extra day.

Thanks for the info! It's always appreciated.
