Right now there is still quite a bit of snow in Lassen and the Trinity's, but like ya said, that will change soon.......

Soon it will be 115/120 in Redding.....that's about when I start wishing for snow again......

Wind surfing!!Nothing like a high speed crash in 65*F water, to get out of the 107*F air.

Can I have half of your heat? It's 54 and foggy here. But I only want half your heat, not all 115!

Second thought, I only want one quarter of your heat.

Funny how..
The first few 100+ degree days are the worst and after that it's just normal and you really don't notice it all that much.

Sorry guys--I live in the summer vacation spot here in Flag. We are having near record temps this week--just over 80 degrees. Had to turn on the fan today and open all the doors and windows.

That was one of the coolest things about the Flagstaff area. We drove from Phoenix through desert, and then all of a sudden we were in a forest. Not a forest like in PA but still, lots of pine trees and such. MP, what do you mean by a treehouse?

Enjoy it Mary, 106 predicted today here in Phx, which means at least 110 on the way home.

But I'll get out of it for a short while, I'm doing Buckskin Gulch Saturday, hope its not that hot up there.

Over 100 again today here in Southern California - heading for the Sierras this weekend to escape some of the heat and smog.

The Sierras ARE southern california. The division between north and south is a Eureka-Chico-Quincy line.

Funny ...when I had my Backpacking business all the manufacturers reps argued over who had to take Porterville the North guys didn't want to come South of Fresno and the South guys didn't want to come North of Bakersfield, so I always thought Porterville was the line between N and S.

No one wants Bakersfield or Fresno either.

It is possible for entire cities to be ghettos.

Hey Nekid
Since Y'all are from back east and get that really sticky hot weather...is it true what they say about our hot weather?

"112 degrees... yeah, but it's a dry heat"

Just wondering ....I've heard that all my life.

i didn't say i was heading out of southern California, but to me the southern Sierras don't feel much like where i live in southern california (45 miles from Palm Springs).

I'll trade 120 degrees in Eagle Pass, Tx for 95 degrees anywhere in alabama. I'mma kill the next person that says it's not the heat it's the humidity. Alabama the only place you can have 100% humidity and no rain or clouds.

...but it's a DRY HEAT!
Wind Walker, I am from the midwest (mainly Indiana) and currently live in San Bernardino, CA. In my opinion it is more pleasant in San Berdoo at 110 than in Indy at 90. The humidity makes a big difference to me. It also helps that the overnight low temps are usually in the high 50s or low 60s even when the daytime high is over 100.

Yeah I agree too. I'd trade 100 degrees out west for anything over 85 in middle Tennessee. Hot and humid sux.

i grew up in new york state - humidity got so bad in the summer you couldn't sleep next to anyone or you'd stick to them.

wsexson - My parents lived in Highland from 1972-2001.

I was raised and live in CA, but went to college in Michigan and Indiana. It's the humidity!

Around here at 5200 feet a heat wave is 85 degrees with 30% humidity. At the other end of the scale we commonly go for weeks during the Winter without the temperature climbing above freezing. Even the most zealous snowsport enthusiast gets tired of that.

The 'Inland Empire' still has higher humidity than over the pass in the high desert. In this desert ,more often than not,the high temps aren't the problem, but the intensity of the sun.At elevation and low humidity the sun power is overwhelming, yet in the shade it is nice.
