Pulled about 20 off on a 3 hour hike in Wekiva Springs were in Central Florida. They even gave me a brochure about how bad the ticks were this season when I came into the park.

Yuc Yuc Yuc Yuc

Had my first tick today. I really didn't like it very much. Not sure if I got it in the yard or if it was on my gear from this past weekend's hiking trip.

Problem is... I don't know the difference between the different tick types. Any experts out there?

Going down for the count.....
Strange how we can conquer the big animals ie. bears, lions, elephants, sharks, gators etc. but the small creatures ie. ticks, mosquitoes, viruses, germs etc. are the ones that's going to kill us. Ticks suck.

We've heard chicks look at a men's butts first when seizing us up. They like to feel them too, let me tell you.

I went hiking a real overgrown bushy trail last Saturday, and when I got back to camp I was getting out of my sweaty pants when I felt a chick on my butt. Just moving around looking for a place to grab hold, I guess. Well I grabbed that chick before she could bite and went into my tent but it freaked me out afterward I tell you gotta watch out for chicks on the trail.

they were pretty bad at Hoosier. i was out that way today. found a few stickers in my waistline at home and pulled off too many to count out there. there's a lot of grassy parts out there. my dog was absolutely infested. got a couple little marks on my waist. when they dig down they really dig down.

Down here in Florida - where there's ticks - there's chiggers. You can see the ticks and pull them off, but you know for every tick you find you'll probably have about 5 chigger bites. I need to remember to wear long pants in the tall grasses (with permethrin).

You all are making me itch!

(except stevehiker).

Tarabull, a tick the size of a grain of rice with stripes on it? The adult deer ticks are that big, but I've never seen stripes. I once saw stars, but that is a nother story.

Come to think of it, it looked like a lizs chick-tick. Don't they have a dark head and light soft underbody?

LOL!

It had two stripes running from it's head to it's behind. Barely noticeable.

I still itch today just thinking aobut it. I talked to my brother this morning (he was hiking w/ me this weekend) and told him to check his body. He said "Oh, is that what the black thing was I pulled off my arm?" So, he had a tick, too and didn't seem to care. YUC
