Good Customer Service
People have shared much more significant stories (good and bad) about customer service, but here is mine from today:

I have a Pur Hiker filter with the old acorn pre-filter. The prefilter is attached to the inflow tube bu three plastic prongs, and was the main weak point of the Pur Hiker according to some reviews. After a couple years, the prongs on my pre-filter broke.

Anyhow, I didn't see where I could get a replacement so I wrote to Pur/katadyn and they will send me one free. Hopefully, it will be one of the new pre-filters - these apparently are much better.

Similar Situation
pedxing,

I have a MSR Whisperlight stove and after four years of relatively hard use a piece of plastic broke on the pump portion of the unit. I swung into Basecamp ( sports shop here in Billings ) just to check on a replacement part. They called MSR and were told just to give me one from their shelves . . . no charge, no waiting! I'll buy MSR again!

Geezr: it is nice to know that given how expensive this stuff is, that at least they support it.

My PUR broke where the intake tube connects with the body. I figured I'd have to get a whole new filter. I emailed them on the offchance that it was a warranty item and they said it wasn't, but that I could get a replacement body for $12 + shipping which I did. I just ordered it and it should be here in a few days. It never occured to me that I could get a replacement body. Very nice. I'm sure part of this post will wind up in the quotes thread, but oh well.
