“Anybody ever heard of Lafuma gear. They have a 27* bag that weighs 1#12 and cost $130. They say it's 800 fill down. That just seems too good to be true.” 11:48:40 AM 6/18/02 “where did you get the price?” 3:22:19 PM 6/18/02 “It's in the gear issue of backpacker mag. I originally found it on their website and called to confirm. I am trying to get them to tell me the amount of loft that the bag has. No answer, yet. I doubt that it's really 800 fill because they also say that it's 90/10, down/feather.” 3:28:19 PM 6/18/02 7:45:02 AM 11/17/05 “This appears as a 37 degree bag on other sites??? www.bizrate.com/buy/noncat_prod_details__oid--327707789.html” 8:44:06 AM 11/17/05 “The difference in the two is 50 more fill-down. The one you posted is a 600 fill. The one I posted is a 650 fill down.” 9:18:42 AM 11/17/05 “Lafuma lists a comfort range between 22 and 37. Some sites list the conservative value and some the liberal. I ran into this when first considering the bag and starting this thread.” 9:46:29 AM 11/17/05 “That looks like a good deal!! I have the Lafuma Light Confort which lists the comfort range at 57degrees F but Ive used it on several nights between 45-38 degrees and have not been cold yet!! And with no extra clothes worn. Got it for $35.00 at sunnys.” 9:59:36 AM 11/17/05 “I may get this one. It's probably about as warm as my Campmor 20* that's good for about 30* and is over 1# lighter.” 10:03:29 AM 11/17/05 “I TRIED TO ORDER...SOLD OUT” 12:53:01 PM 11/17/05 “Wolfie is a tease. Never would have thought that of her before. ;-)” 12:56:21 PM 11/17/05 “I have the 600 and like it. I spent a couple of nights with low 40 temp's and stayed comfortable. The only problem I've had is the down (feathers) working through. The bivy sack looked like Uncle Snuffy used it to raid the hen house. last edited: 11/18/05 3:46:11 AM” 3:40:15 AM 11/18/05 “Boycot France and all things made in France...” 4:09:02 AM 11/18/05 “Boycot France and all things made in France...” Actually I think Lafuma is in Canada,British Columbia maybe. And yes they are still French but,Canadian French are ok because they dont like the regular french either.Thats why they left, afterall.” 9:27:59 AM 11/18/05 “I have a Lafuma Warm N Light 600 bag. I got it on sale a while back. I use it in the spring and fall until it gets near 30. They say you can survive in it down to 25 but I wouldn't try it. It's a great bag for what I use it for and it takes up very little space in my pack. The 650 Fill Goose Down is lower grade than many of my bags, but it doesn't take much. The trick is that there is so little down that I have to stick it in the drier with a tennis ball once in a while to fluff it up. It goes "flat" if I don't do this between trips. It's not very water resistant and if you get in a situation where moisture is a problem the bag doesn't work as well. That said, it packs down smaller than a Nalgene... and I mean for real. It weighs 16 oz. There are lighter ways to sleep at 45 degrees for sure. http://www.progearzone.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=LAF-SB01&click=5096” 9:04:30 AM 11/21/05 “I have had the Lafuma 800G Warm and Light for over a year and used it on some REALLY cold nights. Works pretty well, but I am looking at the synthetic 800 extreme for those trips that I expect rain. Now I use a REI minimalist bivy on my bag for water resistance and just to keep everything together. But I am wondering. Should I go for this bag? Ebay has a good price and I can always use a spare for those people I am introducing to camping.” 8:56:02 AM 9/19/06 “So XL sleeps in a French sleeping bag huh? Unpatriotic s.o.b.!” 8:57:10 AM 9/19/06 “lafuma? that is one gay name. not that there's anything wrong with that.” 9:13:15 AM 9/19/06 “Well...I use an REI bivy, and I know lots of guys who "SLEPT" in french things in the 1918's and 1940's...they” 9:14:02 AM 9/19/06 “XL don't oui oui in that french bag.” 9:15:06 AM 9/19/06 ““Well...I use an REI bivy,..." XL REI is a dang cooperative, commie sympathizer!!!” 9:24:42 AM 9/19/06 “I KNOW there was this one cute little sales girl in Denver who would have been REALLY COOPERATIVE if I had tried. (LOL).” 9:31:44 AM 9/19/06 “Dang just read that...this is a gear thread not a "PIPE DREAM" thread.” 9:32:37 AM 9/19/06 “embear made herself available for XL huh? boy, the things you find out about peoples...” 9:50:12 AM 9/19/06 “Whose pipe are you dreaming of?” 9:50:54 AM 9/19/06 “pipette?” 9:52:23 AM 9/19/06 “Heck MarkO what was it you told me..."You get yours right?"” 10:08:42 AM 9/19/06 “Damn a French sleeping bag and a Chinese bivy? Why XL is practicly leading the communist world!” 10:27:49 AM 9/19/06 “And I eat Sushi...” 1:58:57 PM 9/19/06 “I love sushi! Unagi ”7:11:55 AM 9/20/06 “You Go DOG! LOL years ago as I was preparing for the final exam (comprehensive ...verbal...(I knew where the other word would lead) exam) I had gotten to the point where my blood pressure was pegging out with stress. Tuesday came and I was due to meet with Three professors for a 3 hour discussion over everything from the past three years. A buddy of mine and I went to a local sushi place, had sushi, green tea and joked for about an hour...I breezed through the exam.” 7:32:27 AM 9/20/06
