“SAN DIEGO — A female assistant principal was demoted for lifting girls' skirts to make sure they weren't wearing thongs to a high school dance.


Rita Wilson's thong check April 26 in front of male students and adults had enraged parents, one of whom threatened to sue.

The Rancho Bernardo High School administrator, who has tenure, will be reassigned to a teaching position, the school board decided Monday.

"I'm very disappointed and deeply saddened," Wilson, 47, said as she wiped away tears and hugged supporters.

An investigation by the school district concluded Wilson "went far beyond the grounds of propriety" with the underwear inspection.

Students said Wilson lifted girls' skirts before they entered the dance, and told those wearing thongs to go home and change.

Wilson said she was concerned the combination of revealing clothing and suggestive dancing could lead to sexual assaults.”

“Excuse me for joining this party late, but didn't this happen in NJ last year, as well? I seem to remember reading in the paper about all these traumatized girls, and wondering what the h&ll the school administrator was thinking, doing something like that in this land of lawyers. That person was suspended from her job as well. I guess the San Diego lady doesn't read the papers.

We've had some bizarre some happening in our middle school, no less, with students allegedly engaging in sexual acts on the premises. There has been a lot of talk about why these are not better supervised, etc. Some of the parents counter that it is a lack of parenting, not a need for more school supervising, that is the root of the problem. Probably the same should hold for dress code issues at the prom.”

“I think that condoms should be handed out as each student enters the prom premises. This way, the school is being proactive on stemming AIDS and pregnancy. This would be a bold step on the schools part, but since children are having children, and parenting skills are not always present in the home, schools should attempt to put a stop on this epedemic.

Every day, I see young, brain dead GIRLS, carrying babies who are filthy and poorly cared for. Yesterday, I even saw one of these brain dead girls drive past my house, behind the wheel of her car with the baby in her arms, WITH THE BABIES BACK TO THE CAR STEERING WHEEL! I wish I had gotten her liscence plate #, I would have called the police and reported her for stupidity.

It is now the schools responsibility to teach morals and ethics, cause it just don't happen at home anymore...(in most, but not all, cases.”

“I guess I interpreted Stanlee's post differently. It seems to me that he doesn't think it's a good thing that the schools are in the possition they are. I think he may have been commenting on the lack of parenting nowadays, and how morality lessons are being left up to the schools.

Sounds like a case of really, really bad judgement on the part of that administrator.”

No one has taught the girls not to tease or have the least amount of modesty and no has taught the boys that no is NO and just because you see it doesn't mean you can touch it.”
