Y'all Have Fun!!!
I'll be living in total decadence at Pismo Beach with my family for a week :) I had planned to join you
on the Llama Ramma...but the fam axed my plans when my Brother in-law offered us a beach front condo for a week...I'll be thinking about y'all frolicking in the Sierras though :)

Leaving in the morning, 395 still closed due to fire [where the plane crashed]. Could be an interesting trip just getting to Mel's.

Dutch Oven Extravaganza
Looking forward to meeting you all on Friday even though I won't be able to go on the hike. My "Dutch Oven Extravaganza" menu is about set. Hope you all can make it in time for dinner!

Snow Nymph - Are you leaving a little early on Friday? Hope you can be there in time for dinner.

My son, youngest daughter, and I will be on our way to visit relatives in Oregon. Mel's places seemed like a good place to stop along the way. Hope the detours are gone by then!

Hey now!
Whoa! I know about the crash but 395 is still closed? What's the deal? I'm planning on coming across Tioga Pass from I-5 and then just a little south to the trailhead. Will there be problems with this or are the problems if you are traveling northbound on 395 from LA?

Phil: Sorry I won't be there Friday eve to meet you and your family and to taste your undoubtedly tasty dutch oven goodies. Sometime soon tho!

Everyone else, this trip is gonna be a blast! Looking forward to meeting y'all!

Opps! Didn't mean to mislead, I'm coming from Oregon.
US 395 is closed from the Nevada border to Bridgeport, but there is a detour by way of the East fork of the Walker River.

Whew!
there's construction on the 14 north for a few miles, which delayed us for 45 minutes (we left at 8:30pm last weekend)

We'll miss your cooking, Phil. Can't get the time off work (too close to Montanapalooza and Wyoming vacation.

New Girl! Won't they let you take the test early? Or a make up test?

Anyone who is missing Phil's cooking is missing one of the great experiences of a lifetime!!

Old Timer - Great to hear from you - you have been laying low lately. Is Turk going to be with you this year? I hope all is well with you and yours.

Phil you'll have to get this message from Mel
I'm so sorry I can't be making the trip up 395 with you today. It's one of my favorite road trips. Everyone have a great hike. Enjoy Phil's cooking and Mel and John's fire ring. Tell the Professor I said hello

Well spoken Pepper!
The trip back up towards Sacramento was fun too. I especially liked the part where you got rowdy in that bar in Markeyville and nailed your bra up on the ceiling for those free beers! Now that was fun! :)

I have got to go on some of those West Coast trips...

I had to do it to distract the locals. Solitary had started spouting Libertarian dogma and some of the people in the bar took exception to his interpretation of current history. They were about to call Sheriff Billy Bob and I know how Sol gets when the law shows up.....

So Pepper ...... when did the locals get really steamed....when I stood up and announced that "George Bush was an idiot!" or when I said that "I liked Osama bin Ladin and I loved his beard too!". I myself think it was the latter that caused you to have to employ the 38 D-cup diversion. Of course my memory was fuzzy by that time. By the way, how did we get out of that bar?

Bubba and Rusty threw us out!!! How we drove back to Sacotomatoes is another question.

Also, it was a 36D, not 38D. It just looked bigger because I had been wearing it for 10 days of backpacking. I think it was the smell that really distracted the locals.

Gawd, I can't believe you guys! I TOLD you about that bar - it's called the Cutthroat Saloon - and Mark-LEE-ville is one o' my favorite stops up thataway.

How come I never saw that lacivious display, Pepperdog? I mean, after all, I WAS the one to tell you guys about that place... how about throwing me a bone?

Dutch Oven Extravaganza
My son, daughter, and I got to Mel's to join the evening with didjfan, mel, Old Timer, Turk, and some other friends/relatives of Mel's. Naviguesser showed up later in the evening.

Cooked up four Dutch ovens of goodies. It seemed to go over well!

I left in the morning for Oregon while the others were getting ready for the trail. They should have a good trip.

They should have a GREAT trip...wish I could have joined them.

Obi - you could blow our cover. After all you saw us right after we were in Markleyville, relatively sober and fully clothed.
