Good weather good friends.
Hello everyone hows it going?I hope everyone had a great weekend and got to hit the trails too do some backpacking. The club had a turnout of 5 this weekend.

Club Members.

Me Aka Crazy Mike Backpacks
Nicole Aka Ms Crazy Mike Backpacks
Gary Aka Gforce
Scott Aka Stormbringer
Brian Aka Wounded Knee

Weather.

Cloudy to partly cloudy temps 50's to 30's and windy.

Wildlife.

For some reason on this trip the birds wanted to put on a show for all of us.There were lots of songs sung by Owls,Jays,Geese,Cardnals,Crows and a few other birds.

Saturday.

Me and Nicole waited for Brian to show up at our house around 10 am and as soon as he showed up we packed up my car and hit the road.We soon got to the Grubb Ridge Trailhead at 1:45 pm at the trailhead was Gary and Scott. We all got into our boots and hit the trail. The trail was MUDDY but it was nice to be in Deam Wilderness again. We started out on the Grubb Ridge Trail for about 1 mile then took a left on the Cope Hollow Loop Trail.Going along the trail there is lots too see. There are many diffrent kinds of trees to see and for a change the small creeks had water in the which made nice sounds and were nice to look at.Also this trail has lots of cool pine tree stands along the way which seem to make you feel like you are part of the forest. There was already signs of some plant life comming up from the ground and we saw some small fish in some of the wildlife ponds also. Our campsite was the very nice it was in a large pine stand and we all set up camp and all got dinner going.Soon after dinner Gary and Brian got a camp fire goin.It was a full moon that night and most of the clouds had gone away to give us a view of the moon. There were lots of Barred Owls singing to fill our ears with relaxing sounds.Being around the fire was nice we all got to relax and talk and enjoy being with each other.Soon it was time for bed.

Sunday.

We all got woke up by the birds with the great songs that seemed to fill the air from all directions which made for a nice start to the day.Gary got the fire going again becuase there was a chill to the air and we got to sip cafe and eat our brakefast around a nice fire. After brakeing down camp we hit the trail again and soon we were in the mud again.Today it was very windy and it seemed like the clouds wanted to move in but they held off untill we got back to the car.Nicole was enjoying the nice warm sunshine along the hike out today along with the rest of us.Soon we were back at the trailhead and it was time to say our goodbyes. But today was going to be the last time we get to hike with Scott becuase he is going to hike the AT starting the 13th so we wished him luck and we left for home.

GOOD LUCK SCOTT LONG LIVE THE STORMBRINGER!!!!!!!

Saturday.

We all met at the trailhead around 11 am.You could not ask for a better day.A great spring breeze in the air and temps were in the 70's for the day.We set out to do the Sycamore Loop Trail and to do it at a nice easy rate.Everyone in the group were so into the nice weather and the great fresh smells in the air. There were so many signs of new life comming up all around us.We saw lots of new flowers comming up from the earth to show off there great colors. There were also lots of small moths and butterflys in the air also to see.We herd lots of birds with there sweet songs flowing through the air.We took rest quite often to soak in all the splender that Deam Wilderness had too offer us.There some other backpackes as well on the trail too but its a big woods and there is room for everyone. After going on the trail for sometime we had got to our campsite at the pond.We all set up our tents and took rest.Soon it was time for dinner. We all had gone around the fire ring and everyone was talking about what they all had for dinner. After dinner it started to rain very light but that did not last long.Soon we got a fire going.being right next to the pond the spring peepers were out in great numbers singing there song all throught the night. It was so loud that you got a ringing in your ears at times from all the frogs.Joe brought ear plugs and he gave some of them to us and it made it better to sleep. We all had a good time around the fire telling tales and jokeing around and drinking spirts too set the mood. The clouds soon cleared and we got to see the moon and all the stars in there splender. After hanging out around the fire for some time it was time for bed.Soon after going to bed you soon forgot about the frogs and fell asleep.

Sunday.

When we all got up we saw that it was a great start to the day with the sun comming up and a nice breeze in the air.We all got brakefast going and I and a few others had a good cup of joe.Soon after that it was time to pack up and hit the trail again.Getting back to the cars we all said our goodbyes and it was time too go home.

This was one of the best club trips that I have every been on you are all so cool and I look so very much forward to backpacking with you all again.

Mugsy and I hit Lincoln Trail State Park and Hidden Springs State Forest on the way home. Mugsy (my 5 mo-old Cockapoo puppy) was in heaven for his first backpacking trip. I figure he must have logged over 20 miles with all the back tracking he did "herding" us. As I type he is drying from his bath and sleeping on the couch next to me.

Again, sorry to the other members for showing up at 11am Central time instead of 11am Eastern time.....oops.

Hey Wounded Knee, email me your pictures and I'll put them up on my webpage with my trip report. I'll keep them seperate from my pictures (when I get them developed) and put your name on them. That way you can have a little extra space on your webshots account and you don't have to upload them. It takes about 5 seconds (no joke) for me to put them on a webpage. The thing that takes the longest is just typing in the captions.

Also a few of us stopped for lunch after the trip. Joe, Vicsaw, WK, and Sara. We all ate subs at a local restaurant on the IU campus. It was a blast. I'll post my trip report when I get some pictures on the page.

Bigpack, if you watch thread posts you'll find that most are made between 9-5. This place is dead from about 5-8 until everyone gets home and has dinner and gets back online. It is very addictive. When I'm in boring lectures at school I usually stay on the entire time.
