I have the lovely 89 Jeep Cherokee I would sell at a very good price!! ('twas my vehicle pre-1990 Jeep Cherokee, which is rapidly closing in on 200,000 miles... gulp!) I think it has around 189,000 mils on it. It is not quite aligned true due to a slo-mo rollever PRE-lizs days... but is aligned as best can be. Ya just need to keep rotating the tires. The tranny has always been one to grind. And I've had it since Oct. of 99. Bad thing is, the lights don't work. I wasn't going to pay a ton of money to track down that problem!! It has been suggested just putting off-road lights on it and wiring for that. However, I have never checked to see if that is legal. The Jeep made it to southern Utah and back on a big road trip in Oct. 2000. Sad to say, steady rains for three days meant most backcountry was offlimits, since the red soil turns to mucky clay and you are stuck in a backcountry location until it all dries out. So.... if you're interested... and know how to fix lights and/or electronics... lemme know. :-)” 9:48:35 PM 2/16/03 “.........Go on. Ha!!!!!!!!!!! No way. 8P” 9:51:03 PM 2/16/03 “Oh yeah, I did a day hike Sat., prolly a couple miles. Breaking trail most of it in snow from 3-6" deep. Used my trekking poles. No snow shoes or XC skis. The Cub Scout group I was photographing greatly enjoyed a campfire, smores and hot dogs aftewards. They determined marshmallows just don't just "nice in the middle" in this kind of cold weather (around 15 degrees) I was toasty in my insulated Vasque Artics and $25 WalMart ski pants that are waterproof and windproof and also have an elastic cuff at the bottom to serve a gaiter-type function. Well, toasty and sweaty. LOL!” 9:52:28 PM 2/16/03 “Ohhhhh c'mon CMB!!! You KNOW YOU WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!! sure, just play tough as a bargaining ploy. LOL! hehee” 9:54:06 PM 2/16/03 “a bad day with crazy pimpa$$ mike is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick...... ROCK ON MIKEOLA! YOU DA PIMP! ! !” 10:58:08 PM 2/16/03 “A good old poke in the eye! yawn.....I need it I am not awake yet. 8)” 5:15:05 AM 2/17/03 What a sloppy weekend. “Hey everyone I hope ya all had a great weekend backpacking or day hiking here is the trip report for 3-1 to 3-2. Saturday I got to the trailhead in Hoosier National Forest at 9:30 am Central time and had to wait for Gforce & Trailblazer & Brian to show up.There was about 3 inches of very wetsnow on the ground.Well everyone showed up around 9:45 and we hit the trail around 10 am.From there we did the Grubb Ridge Loop Trail and it was feel the burn the whole way becuase you would loose 25% of your footing becuase of the real wet snow. The day was sunless and the temps were great I would say right at 40 so I got rid of the long pants and got into shorts man did that feel good.It was nice to see that much snow in Charles Deam Wilderness but becuase it was so warm the snow was just like mush and that was just slip and slide the whole time.Well after hiking all day we set up camp and got a fire going.Gforce was the target I had got 2 diffrent colored lights and did a disco light show on him it gave us all a real good laugh. There were all kinds of good laughs on this trip.We all turned in around 9 pm and it was a nice calm night I herd a few Barred Owles during the night and that too me is always a great +. Sunday was the hike out and it was much of the same of that dam slippin and slideing in that dam wet snow.We took a short cut and had gone to Patton Cave to take a nice brake and to eat lunch.Trailblazer had made the plan to explore the cave when us 3 took it easy and ate a snack and rested in the opening of the cave. There was a nice flow of water comming out of the cave which looked cool and sounded cool. After the cave we hiked out and by then all of us were spent it was a great trip even thought the wet snow made it hard to backpack. 8)” 5:23:43 PM 3/02/03 “Great trip report, glad you had a lot of laughs :)” 5:35:43 PM 3/02/03 “Ya it was fun but the the wet snow just sucked! 8)” 5:37:49 PM 3/02/03 “But at least you got out there :) A wuss would of looked at the snow and given up Besides a bad day of hiking is better then anyday at work!” 5:51:50 PM 3/02/03 “You have a very good point. 8)” 5:55:33 PM 3/02/03 “hey at least it was not -10* 8) It was great to get out anyway! Only about an inch of snow and only in some places. The trail has a lot of gravel chips for the horses so it wasn't so slippery. NO horses! We had a great hike. See my trip report for German Ridge Trail. I know what you mean about the Charles Deam wilderness. I've hiked it in the rain and snow and it can be a real biaatch.” 11:19:38 AM 3/06/03 Great weather and good hiking. “Whats up TT'ers? The club had a very good turnout this weekend a total of 5 showed up for some great backpacking and very good weather.Friday I had gone down to pick up club member Scott and then we drove down to Deam Wilderness and spent the night on Grubb Ridge.Friday night was great we set up camp around 12 am and the moon and the stars were putting on a great show for us.We were sleeply and turned in not much longer after setting up camp.Saturday me and Scott broke camp around 8 am and hit the trail to go to the Grubb Ridge Trailhead to meet the rest of the gang.It was a great day no sign of rain and the sun was high in the sky.It was great hiking and there was nice small creeks with water running in them along the trail.Scott had found a great campsite high up on Terrill Ridge. It was a very nice site about 300 ft below you could see Monroe lake. When night came it was a animal and moon show with the stars for all of us during the night. We had got a nice camp fire going and heard lots of coyotes and owls and geese during the night along with spring peepers. The stars and the moon too were also putting on a show for all of us.The moon was lighting up the whole campsite and the stars were as clear as a bell.It was very nice to have good temps again and not have to think about snow or cold gear.Today the temps were around 70 and the hike out was just as fun.It was a very good trip. I hope everyone else had a good weekend too. 8)” 4:02:15 PM 3/16/03 “Thanks, Mike. Warm temps are great aren't they?? ;-)” 5:18:14 PM 3/16/03 “Ya they are so very pimp! 8)” 5:21:36 PM 3/16/03 Great weather and good hiking. “Hello TT'ers whats going on?Well the club had a turnout of 5 this weekend. We did the Grubb Ridge Loop Trail. The weather was just top notch and there were good times had by all.I got to try out some new gear that I got a new tent and a Gore-Tex Bivy.My one friend used the new tent and I used the Bivy.It was so nice to lay down and look up at the night sky and see the real cool pine trees that looked like they were trying to reach for the sky.Saturday night was a blast. We had a nice camp fire and had a few laughs and had good talks around the fire ring. That night also gave us a bunch of owls that seemed to make nice sounds all night.Today was even better the temps were in the high 60's and we were all woke up by crows and woodpeckers. It was a great trip. I hope everyone else had just as good of a weekend as I did with the club. 8)” 4:20:32 PM 3/23/03 Old school fun. “Hello TT'ers whats up?The club had a turnout of 2 this weekend as we did some easy bushwacking and on trail backpacking in Charles Deam Wilderness.Saturday we started at the Hickory Ridge Trailhead and had gone all the way to the end of the trail to the large hill.We had gone down the hill and ate lunch and I saw a small creek flowing into the lake so I said that we should take the creek and see where it goes.Well we got to the end of it only to see a nice big hill in our view.So we went up the hill and when we got to the top there was a nice campsite there. And looking around we found some of the old trail system that was once in place the trees were marked with blue blazes and we took one of the trails.as it turns out the old school book that I have that another club member gave me was right there are lots of other trails within the Wilderness that are no longer used but if you take the time you can find them. After doing some exploring we had set up camp and got a nice fire going. We had gone to bed around 9 pm.It was a great trip and I am going to get a map of all the old school trails in the area for a man that we ran into on Saturday that had made a map of all the old trail systems in the area. There was lots of wildlife on this trip also we say a bald eagle and saw a hawk and the hawk made its screem call and it sounded way pimp. Also Saturday night we got to hear lots of owls which is always a great treat. I hope everyone else had a great weekend. 8)” 2:55:08 PM 4/06/03 “Hey Mikey, nice report. Our weekends are filled with little league baseball until June, so it's nice to read about some actual backpacking - sounds like you had a good time. Any pictures?” 3:26:11 PM 4/06/03 “No pictures but it was nice to fine trails that have not been used in years! 8)” 3:29:28 PM 4/06/03 “IMHO that kind of go where the spirit moves you trip is the very best. Would a gps be good to help map the old trails?” 3:43:20 PM 4/06/03 “It might but sometimes it more fun just to go off and explore! 8)” 3:47:17 PM 4/06/03 Overloaded!!!! “Hey TT'ers whats up?Well the trip this weekend was so very nice. The weather was great and so was the star viewing and throw the moon in there for good measure. But there were so many other backpackers in the Deam Wilderness it was insane!!!!I have been backpacking there for 12 years and I have never seen so many people in that place at one time.It was a good trip thought all kinds on nice wildlife sounds to make the ears feel good owls, songbirds, spring peepers, and of corse a whipper-will.On a not so nice note there were ticks out already so it looks like they are getting a early start. We had a nice campfire and I slept outside in my OR Bivy and looked up at the moon untill I fell asleep. I hope everyone else had a great weekend. 8)” 2:43:36 PM 4/13/03 “Sounds like another good trip, Mikey! I'm sitting here in my office working, sniffling from the cold I have, and watching it rain outside. What a great weekend....” 2:45:36 PM 4/13/03 “That sucks dude it sounds like you need to get out. 8)” 2:46:23 PM 4/13/03 “Well, I did take Cameron to the local batting cages yesterday, since his game got rained out, and I hit a few - that was fun!” 2:47:46 PM 4/13/03 “Hey Crazy mike sounds like you have some time on your hands... Want three kids? They are yours, free of charge!” 2:48:20 PM 4/13/03 “Thats cool. I can't wait untill this weekend going to Red River Gorge! 8)” 2:48:43 PM 4/13/03 “mikey i stopped at ll waters. they didnt have any maps of the red but i did pick up a black hills map and a map of the tecumseh trail” 2:49:15 PM 4/13/03 “Thats cool was the map of the T trail a topo? And no I don't want any kids! 8)” 3:37:50 PM 4/13/03 Spring solo in Deam Wilderness. “Hello TT'ers whats going on?Happy easter too all of you I hope everything is good with all of you.Well the club had no intrest this weekend in going to the Gorge so insted I went on a solo trip to Charles Deam Wilderness.I Friday I started out on the Sycamore Loop Trail and had gone to Terril Ridge and spent the night at the pond.Spring was everywhere. All the trees had green on them and there were all kinds of nice sweet smells in the air.By hiking slow I got too see all diffrent kinds of spring wild flowers of all diffrent kinds of colors. There were all kinds of song birds singing and the temps were just right.Friday night I had a small camp fire and the spring peepers were going like crazy you almost needed ear plugs but never the less I was able to go to sleep.I got woke up in the middle of the night by a Barred Owl makeing its normal calls right above my tent that was the first time that I ever got to hear one so close it was very cool.I also got to see the moon just before it set it looked very big in the sky and after that I feel back asleep.Saturday I got a late start and it was already near 70 degs out and Started out South and wanted to do some exploring so I got to one of the side creeks and had gone up it quite a ways and found a small waterfall and a great place for a campsite. There were all kinds of small frogs and lizards along the banks of the creek. There were lots of black and yellow butterflys in the air and it was a great day.On a down note to this trip the ticks are already out in full force so I had to deal with that this weekend. 8)” 11:31:03 AM 4/20/03 “Another good report, Mikey! Especially like the owl activity. I didn't go backpacking, but there's a hawk that hangs out on our street sometimes, and when I headed out on a jog today he swooped by with a pretty good sized mourning dove in his claw - Easter brunch, I guess!” 3:16:01 PM 4/20/03 “I-90 over here by me has Pergrin Falcons taking out pidgons all the time. Ya that was the first time I ever herd a owl that close it was quit loud. 8)” 3:34:35 PM 4/20/03 “Cool report, Crazy Mike. Sounds like it was a great time. :-)” 3:47:07 PM 4/20/03 “It was it felt good to do a solo hike for a change! 8)” 3:49:53 PM 4/20/03 “Sounds great Mike. I like hearing owls at night and the peepers too. So far I didn't see any ticks, but I know I will soon. We don't have any leaves on the trees here yet, but it won't be long.” 4:39:42 PM 4/20/03 Jump to Page << prev
