trip Report
well i made it back! and WOW does my a$$ hurt. hehehe
but all i can say is that it was the most incredable (sp) week of my life!!
first i went kayaking in NJ. Being that it was in the middle of the week there was nobody around. I was a little scared because there was a bear sighting at the park about a week before. im sorry but i only want to see a bear in the zoo or on the next mountain. it rained really bad the first night. i thought i would need the ranger to come bail me out but i did pretty good by myself. i come to understand that i do like music to listen to while im in the woods. but i was unable to get anything on the radio. the next day after i hung everything up to dry i took a paddling trip around the lake. WOW it was so nice. i stoped to watch a bunch of turkey voltures (sp). god are they ugly!! but it was cool just to be that close to them. like i said there was nobody around. so i got even closer to nature. I went skinny dipping! heheh that was way cool!!
being in an inflatable it was alot of work but well worth it! i got a little boat to put my stuff in and pull it. i think i had more water and beer then food. but it was well worth the extra work.
then i was off to bear mountain for the aids ride. i was only able to do about 30 miles but just being there will be somthing that i will never forget. i volunteered the rest of the time. i think i worked harder with that then if i had rode. but it was somthing very special!! i will do it agin . maybe next year. so that was how i spent my vac.

box turtle (who buy the way scared the he!! out of me)

Neat trip! Good for you! And don't be scared of bears. They're more scared of you than you are of them, as evidenced when I chased that one in High Point, NJ a few weeks ago.

I've stood and watched bears and they've sat there watching me. Black bears are not a problem if you hang your food properly. Even if a bear gets your food, it will almost always leave enough for you to have something to eat the next day.
Sounds like a fun trip. Glad you enjoyed it.

Don't worry about bears. As long as you protect your food, its yours. Once the bear gets it, its his.

When we hear "BEAR", SnowDude gets out of my way while I run out with my boots & camera. I finally got pics last year.
