To Whom It May Concern
Id like to write this letter to the a$$hole son of a b!tch that broke into my car last night and STOLE everything that was in it.
as you know i spent alot of time trying to get my husband a fathers day gift that the whole family could enjoy. i got him a big 5 man raft with oars and a motorized air pump. i aslo got myself an inflatable kayak with oar. also i bought 4 life jackets.
i spent about 300.00 on all of it.
well my husband came home last night and the car was broken into. but i think what p!sses my off the most is that the cops Wont do anything because it was under $1000.00 and american express wont do anything because it was taken from inside the car. now had it been sitting next to the car at 4:00am they would not make me pay for it!!
so to the jerck who broke my heart when i saw my daughter crying and for upsaetting my family I HATE YOU and i hope you drown in the boat!!!
im so p!ssed off that if you were here with me i would drown you myself!!!
eat sh!it and die!

sorry about this but i needed to get this off my shoulders

Damn
Wow, that really sucks. Do you live in a generally safe area?

Home owners insurance won't cover it? Or is it an apartment?

It's reasons like Wildflower stated that I can't WAIT to move out of the NYC area (she lives there also). Too many little wannabe hoodlums who wear pantyhoses on their heads looking to one up eachother.

Up here home insurance sometimes covers it. What about your car insurance, you're probably covered by them, don't you think. Just some positive stuff for you after a truly awful experience. Good luck.

So Sorry Wild Flower!!!
Yeah, comprehensive won't pay because it wasn't attached to the car, American Express won't pay for it because it was in the car, but blahchool makes a very important point. Your homeowners insurance will pay for it if it was parked in the driveway or in front of the house. If you rent and have renter's insurance it may pay for it. Some apartment complexes have insurance that will cover it. A private landlord may have homeowner's insurance that will cover it.

I've had similar thefts in the past and the perp was only caught in one case and that was the only time we got our stuff back (all of it backpacking/canoeing gear). The other times we kept asking until we found a way to get reimbursed for the loss. Just keep checking.

I know how you feel wildflower. My car was broken into while parked at a trailhead in central Pa. while I was on a hike. I had to drive from near Harrisburg back to Philly with a 30-degree and dropping breeze blowing through the open window they bashed with a bat. They took my tools and a CB radio that belonged to my Town Watch org.
I felt so violated I wanted to drive out there, park the car with about $1,000 worth of radios lying out, and sit up in the woods with my .303 Enfield. I wanted to shoot a round right next to their ear so they would spend the rest of their life thinking about it. I didn't, though.
I know what that kayak meant to you, so I know the despair you must feel, along with the loss of your husband's raft and the other gear. It stinks out loud. All I can say is that you will go on. It will one day be a memory, although it will hurt for some time to come. You will eventually replace the gear. The only good thing is that nobody was physically harmed. It might seem like small solace at this time, but it's just how it is.
In the meantime, vent about the b@st@rds. I can tell you it's good therapy. It helped me just knowing I could do it if I really wanted to. The mental image of that cretin reacting to a .303 round passing within inches of his worthless ear was good medicine.
I wish you a good turn of luck.

I meant to add that I was sorry that happened to you Wildflower. That really sucks. If I see some hoodlum kids with pantyhose on their heads in a kayak, I'll tackle them like a boar.

Depends on your deductibles. Probably won't cover it.

Too bad and a bummer. That's why I love where I live. Not much of that goes on here.

Can't we help wild flower?
Hey folks, let's take up a collection to replace wild flower's gear. $300 shouldn't be hard to come up with. I'll start off the bidding at $25, who'll add to it?
Wildflower: email me with a mailing address and the check will be on its way.

Really sorry to hear about the crime committed to you and your family....but it's always a bad idea to leave things visible in a car. I don't even put an empty box in my car. One of my neigbours got his car side window smashed in for an empty old busted up knapsack...the thief threw it on the sidewalk. Whatever, it still sucks to have your car broken into.

Yup. Sending an "open letter" to the perp who stole your stuff on TT is ridiculous. Now, if your computer had been stolen and the perp logged onto your internet connection, went to your internet bookmarks, found TT, well then there is a chance, albeit quite slim, that your open letter would be read by the culprit. Of course you'd probably have no way to post the message.

Shut up wild child. Go annoy some other site.

Wild Flower, so sorry to hear about the theft. It really feels terrible to be in that position. May the raft pop or the kayak deflate on a cold body of water when he'a alone out there.
