smokies/pisgah camping info

“I'm heading east on 40 and will be passing the smokies/pisgah nat;l forest. Is there a place not too far off the hwy to pitch a tent for the night? How about Mt Mitchell State Park, In north carolina?

And if anyone wants to come out and play for the evening, I think the mother ship will be landing @ 10 - 10:30 in the evening THIS friday nite.”

“it is closer to the hwy and easier to find late at night.”

“There is the big creek campground in the smokies and that is right off of I40. Waterville exit. I think thats exit 451 (or used to be that)”

“Im heading to North Carolina to the outer banks for sun, surf and fun. Im just making the night stopover on the border of tenn/nc.

I will pull into camp at 10 or so, so a reservation is a good thing to have, especially on a friday nite of 4th of July week. KOA it is...just pull in, pitch camp, suck a beer or 10 and pass out. in the morning...out the door I went. and I'll be swimmin in the sunset surf off North Carolina...”
