Eagle Rock Loop
Hello fellow Hikers,

My buddy are taking off on a 3 day hike in the Ouachita Mountains. Everyone I know keeps asking what I'll do when we encounter a bear... uh, maybe just relax, say hi and back away slowly?

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on proper trail ettiqute for dogs. I'll be taking 2 and would like to keep them off leash most of the time but they can be a little "rambunctious."

Cheers and get out of the city!

-TK.

By "rambunctious" do you mean they like to run up and bark at strangers or try to steal their food?

Aren’t the Ouachita Mountains in bacpac’s territory? hee-hee this should be good!

a match made in heaven.

i'm going snackpacking then too, in case anyone tries to blow up DC. actually, it's not too far from DC, so i'd probably get blown up anyway...but at least i'll get the chance to poop in the woods one last wonderful time.

we're going to Annapolis Rocks (again) in MD. it's about an hour, hour and a half out of the city. we were trying to go to Dolly Sods, but that's "too far" for our friends to drive...babies! ;-) what're you doing that weekend, bitpusher?

I'm gonna be driving back from Houston, most likely.

If you're more than about 20 miles from D.C., even if they've managed to glom onto an old Russian 20MT nuke, you'd be okay.

my friend told me that, judging from the trip we did alone, i'd stand a much smaller chance of being killed in an attack on DC than i would in the woods, heheee!

and not to scare you off, Mellon (i won't ask about the name), but do a search for "dogs." you'll find out more than you eeeeevveerrrr wanted to know.

Hmmm, Annapolis Rocks(why, yes it does!).

Isn't that near Harpers Ferry?
.....now, where's my good axe?

Getting away from D.C. (or Baltimore) is always a nice idea!

Rambunctious;
Is that when a dog approaches at full tilt with its teeth bared and hair up on its back?

The chances of you even seeing anyone on the trail this time of year is remote.

Hey, what's with all the radio towers near Annapolis, visible from the Bay? I think is was too far north to be NSA...

That's okay! Forget I said anything!

I always liked the trails near Great Falls, but there were always so many damn tourons around. I guess dat nuke will take care o' them!

If the "rambunctious" doggies are going to be in bacpac's backyard, better start saving up for side-by-side plots in the pet cemetary Now, LOL

Annapolis Rocks aren't near Annapolis...what're you, crazy?

yeah, the crowds at Great Falls are getting ridiculous. i decided last time that if i'm going to have to Wait In Line to get over a rock, i might as well go climb the escalators at the mall.
