Adjusted Pack weight “Snow Nymph, my pack is ready for a four day trip. It weighs a few ounces over 45 lbs. I will find and remove those few ounces and will have reached my goal.” 7:46:50 AM 7/01/02 “Good job! I don't usually weigh my pack. I figrue my dad knows best and if the weight feels right then I don't really care. but good job anyhow.” 10:21:09 AM 7/01/02 “WLD you're going to have to work on those "few ounces". If you want to be a TRUE ultralighter you need to be in the 5 lbs. area. 8^)” 12:37:55 PM 7/01/02 “Yesterday, at the end of a 3 day backpack trip, I weighed my backpack and my girlfriend's at Pinkham Lodge. With 3 liters of water and a pound or two of food, we weighed a combined 45 pounds (18 for her, 27 for me) and we were carrying comfort extras I don't take with my kids. (Admittedly, we must have been at about 52 combined with full food and water when we set out). WLD: If you list your gear, I am sure people will be glad to to make suggestions for shaving a couple hundred ounces.” 12:49:27 PM 7/01/02 “I have heard it said that pack weight is like pen!s size. Not everyone measures the same way, most lie, and how it is used is more important that its size (weight). Sure the weight is important but the weather, location, planed activities and other thing dictate what I take and thus the weight of my gear. I can think of treks that would require only food and the water treatment gear.” 1:18:29 PM 7/01/02 “I for one found 50 lbs too draining.” 1:38:52 PM 7/01/02 “I can sit on about 35 lbs with 5 days worth of food and a quart of water... works for me” 6:14:37 PM 7/01/02 “45 Lbs for four days is one heavy pack!” 7:04:16 PM 7/01/02
