TC2 - my thanks!

“To everyone who responded to my post stating I needed your help -- my thanks!

Common sense regarding the Internet would dictate that $500 could not be raised in less than two weeks. Common sense would keep folks from sending checks to someone 'from the net.' Common sense would make my goal to reserve the entire Charit Creek Lodge for the site of the annual backpacker's challenge cookoff impossible.

Folks, it happened. I broke $400 today. I have less than $100 to go. If you want to contribute, you all know the name, street address, telephone number and email addy by now. If you don't, then please consider coming to Big South Fork National Recreation and River Area and competiting.

Early estimates put the number of competitors at a hundred. Some folks are now wondering if we will hit three times that. Now that the $500 is nearly raised to reserve the event site - the members of the steering committee will now be putting together music and entertainment, and designating leaders to lead all sorts of hikes over the weekend.

Again, my thanks. They said it couldn't be done.”

“It's time to get started on some of the committee appointments. Anyone nominate anyone for any particular jobs or area of responsibility?

We will need steering committees to:

1) handle all the day hikes for the weekend.

2) handle all the entertainment for Saturday night.

3) Judges are already named.

4) Prize chairman is already named.

5) Other committees possibly include security, publicity, site logistics (prive, water, trash)

6) Others as needed.”
