Anyone Hiking This Weekend?
We have four days to play - so who's going hiking? We're off to the Donut Hole in PA - where I really hope it will be cooler than here in DC.

Sierra bound...again
Taking my wife and daughters on a 1.5 mile backpacking expedition in the Sierra. The kids are 4 & 1.5 years old, so we don't travel too far.

Have a safe weekend everyone!

Well, we were going to go to Linville Gorge (North Carolina) but have had to cancel. Sauron had to have ingrown toenail surgery on both feet. We're 'grounded' for awhile until he's healed up. Have fun!

We have our first unpaid day off this Friday, so I'll either backpack or dayhike on the AT - depending on if I have time to pack.

Gotta be in work Friday and have an obligation on Saturday. Will dayhike the Coppermine Trail in the Water Gap NRA on Sunday and may take a short jaunt on the A-Trail somewhere north of Allentown on Thursday, depending on how hot it still is. Gotta trip over the rocks! Ouch, ooch, yowzah!

Local festival with amusement rides, cotton candy and fireworks. My kids talk about the festival all year long, it is such a big hit with them.

I am making cole slaw, potato salad, ka bobs, vegetable salad and fruit salad. And barbecued chicken. Did I mention frozen margeritas?

Typical Fourth of July stuff.

other than my daily training... (just started) i dont' think i'll hit the trail this weekend, wish i was... but it's such a long drive to any decent trails, so i'm stuck hiking the back roads every day, gettin myself in shape anyway, and still losin weight.

WOW, a light bulb! I wonder if I can pull together enough props to make my backyard look a little like Margaritaville. That would make the July 4th barbecue way cooler, and maybe I can borrow the music from someone. My kids would love it! Of course the flags are out front, we won't forget why we celebrate this day.

Going in at North Lake (Bishop area), xctry north, dayhike a peak and a pass, and come out at Pine Creek Roadend (north of Bishop). There's a fire 16 miles of Bishop, so I hope we can get the shuttle set up. I think the hwy was closed a few miles north of where we turn. SnowDude left this morning. Have a great weekend!

It would be superflous to say have fun Artex. Just don't let the black flies cart you away. They have FAA wing numbers up there!
Got nipped a few times over the last weekend, once while I was reaching for the bug dope to spray myself. Dam thing bit me on the wrist. What the heck was God thinkin?

Black flies must be spawned by Satan. Can't stand em. I got eaten alive by them on the BFT and itched for 10 days. After that I'll find out if there's an infestation of them and if so, stay home or go elsewhere.
