Trip Report - Eagle Rock Loop AR

Yes, I like to plan. On longer trips I plan a little less actually, on the short ones you have less time for errors if you want to hit a lot of things.

Donald is her boyfriend. I didn't put it in the report, but I posted it once somewhere on TT. He graduated this year from HS, and she will be a senior. That should do for background, so here is the story for the enquiring minds:

"Karen and Donald have been dating about a year now. As teenagers, they think a year means a serious relationship and they are in LOVE!

I was on assignment to Germany, and he was about to graduate and most likely go to college. But this would break up the love birds for at least a year, maybe up to three. Sadness abounded at the plight of the poor young lovers.

So, Donald bravely decides to make a sacrifice for the relationship. He joins the Army and picks an assignment that will take him to Germany so they can be together after we move. Suddenly there is HOPE! This was on Friday one week.

That Sunday (count them - only 2 days later), I get a call telling me I have been selected for promotion and I'm not going to Germany anymore. Great wailing and gnashing of teeth ensue. If Mr Romeo had only waited a week to enlist...

Now Donald (nice kid, I like him, really) is going to Germany for TWO YEARS, while we stay here."

So there it is. Whenever life gets me down, I think about that and laugh. And no, I don't bark orders at them unless the need it ;^)

You think you could make the hike into Winding Staircase? I'm planning to go back on a long weekend and hike into there and just camp. It was better than I ever expected. Maybe a TT beach party right there.”
