Tex It would be great to see you again, Tex, if it can be managed. If not this fall, maybe we can have a ECT-ONF-2. I'll be leaving Florida by mid-August in time for two weeks of backpacking in GSMNP with my youngest daughter(18). The berries will be ripe up high and she'll likely see many bears there. Then I'll take her to Iowa for her second year of college. Following that drive, I'll be bp-ing in GSMNP until about the end of Oct. I plan to be at Ice Water Spring Shelter on Sept. 7th to greet TD and his bushwacking group as they crawl past. After building up my legs, etc., I plan to hike the AT cross the Park, stopping for one night at each shelter or campsite. There are 13 of them in the Park on or near the AT. Then, after a night at the Fontana Hilton by the dam, I'll return across the Park, with a night at each spot again. So that represents a trip of about 140 miles with 27 bag nights and one shower(at the dam). I'll try to get my start date posted on TT. I'll be trying for a start date of Oct. 1. at Davonport Gap Shelter. From there it should be easy to track me, in case you or anyone else wants to meet me along the trail. Best regards, Tex.
