Dolly Sods on July 4th?

“Lyra and I were at Sods on the 4th... was anyone from the board out there?

We took a trail from the Red Creek Campground parking lot (I think it's 509 or something) all the way to Red Creek and then we camped across the creek under some pines...

Eveything was great except I was wearing Teva's and my feet got blistered... and the fly's sucked... and I had a headache..

I much prefer 0 degree temps and snow to that hot, headache, bug, weather.

“hellooooo everyone! i haven't been here for so long, i don't know what to read first! oh the humanity. i feel like i'm back in Nature again, what with all the wildlife here at work...i just killed the absolutely ridiculously hugest roach in the world!!! at least 3 inches long. EEEWWWWWW!!!!!”

“and now that i'm over my heart attack...the Sods were cool! the hike back seemed much shorter than the hike in...i think we went through a space warp or something. no blueberries yet, alas. we both got sunburned...last time it was really foggy, and i was imagining it would be that way again.”

“Sunburn on the Sods is a rarity. You should feel privileged. The usual maladies are drowning, fungus, wrinkled skin.
Blueberries come out next month on the Sods. It's always a month earlier up there than it is everywhere else.”
