WHOOOO-EEEEE! I just sampled the jerky I made for the trip. Goodgawdamighty, that's a spicey meatball! I might have to carry extra water.

LOL! When I first read it I wondered the same thing! What'd I ever do to you? Just kidding. No offence taken.

FG, sounds like you make some good jerky!

Hey Skully- When are you planning to do this hike? Can anyone else come along?

Well, we haven't planned anything concrete yet but we're looking at doing this as a 2-3 night hike and ending up at TownDawg's cookoff at Charit Lodge. That would likely involve hiking Wed, Thur and Fri of the week before. OF COURSE we would love to have y'all come along!

Hey Skully, did you ever do this hike.

Has anyone hiked the John Muir Trail near Reliance, Tn. It is in the Cherokee National Forest.

I am going down there this weekend to see the migration of the Sandhill Cranes so I will see what I can find on this trail and others in the area.

I have hiked to the JMT near Reliance, TN. We used to flyfish there every spring. One year we drove up to Coker Creek Falls and hiked down to the JMT and part of it down stream from there. I have also hiked it near Reliance. It is right beside the Hiwassee River and is used by fishermen as well. The Hiwassee is one of the premier dry fly rivers in the South. One year we got there in a hatch so thick it looked like a fog on the river. I still have a hiking staff I picked up on the JMT. One day I'll stain and finish it. I have a map of the area somewhere, I'll try to find it if you are interested. The JMT is a great trail thru a beautiful area down there.
