rucksack coffeemaker
Wife and I are camping and hiking in drought-blasted Southern Wyoming. Fire ban in the Forest ( and rightfullly) also meant no morning coffee this morning. Is there such a device to heat coffee by battery/ solar ?

Try yer backpackin' stove there, pilgrim. Even in areas where fires are banned, you can use those.

not always FG - last year here in Shenandoah any open flames were banned including backpacking stoves and cigarettes - from what I hear that could also be the rule out in Wyoming this year. As to what to do if one is addicted to the bean - since it gets rather hot during the day just put the coffee packet in a zip lock and put it on a hot rock in the sun for a while for the evening coffee and in the morning have "iced coffee" made the previous day. Other approach is to switch to regular tea for the duration - same technique and same caffiene.

Dang! I'm from out west and that's the first I ever heard of that. This time of year, cool, clear water is better anyway. Sounds like time to give up the bean addiction.

one option
you could go to surplus stores and get the heater packs out of MRE's, most sell em for a buck or so,, add water and they get hot quick,, good for pretty much anything under a pound, including fluid weight

If you can find some green coffee beans (like at a store that roast their own) you can pop a few in your mouth while you hike for that caffeine buzz.

and whatever you do, i hope you won't drink coffee out of one of those stupid mugs that say "Touch This and Die" or some such thing! those, and coolies that say something like "STOP TALKING i ran out of aspirin" are about enough to drive me to quit drinking. seriously, who would EVER think those are funny? my parents have like 50 of those dumb coolies, given to them by relatives and such. blech!!

aahhh, i feel much better...

We just camped in southern Wyoming and were allowed to have a campfire and use our propane stove...

The same was not true in northern Colorado.
