I just got back from an REI run for this trip. I'm getting excited! I bought a pair of new wool socks, stove fuel, fruit punch Gatoraide packets, and a cold breakfast for Saturday morning. By this time in two weeks, we'll be hiking!

Hey - I have an astronomy homework assignment that you all can help me with. I just have to locate a bunch of constellations. Y'all interested? Hopefully the weather will be clear!

Wow, what a great assignment! If it is clear and the moon is not out, Jordan should be just like a planetarium (sp?).

Got a trick answer for you
Smiley Girl, Tell your teacher that Ursa Major is located in the upper left quadrant of Reino...which is only viewable in Wisconsin at very particular times.

... she just got the Big Dipper tattooed on her left shoulder. Clear night or not, you'll only see it when she goes sleeveless.

Or should new ink go in the New gear, woohoo! thread?

Well, we don't have anything that exactly matches, but I do have a new quill pen on my right interior forearm. Yup, it hurt, but that fades.

They didn't hurt all that much. A bit but not enough to bring a tear to eye or anything. See "Latin help desperately needed" for details on what we got.

Hey bbinkley....email Tarabull. She and laqtis are the primary people heading this trip. She's the one that has put the schedule together for this whole shindig. Between the 2 of them, I'm sure they could let you know who's coming from where, and who might be able to help you out. GOOD LUCK!

Buddha, won't you need to be there Saturday to be able to drive in to Pinney Bridge CG? I may be all confused again, but I think we're hiking in Friday night and camping where ever we can.

BBinkley, make sure you fly into Detroit METRO airport. None of us really want to actually go into Detroit to get you. That might be skeery. =) I hope you can make this work! The more the merrier.

Sass/Buddha - an idea. Tara and I were/are going to suggest that for Friday night, we try for an area that is noted in our info as a "big open spot, perfect for a large group of hikers. That area (and I hope I don't you all confused!) is accessible by road! Buddha, in fact, can hit all the spots by car. The area I speak of, is where the trail crosses state road. In the guide info that gforce gave us, it sez that on the north western side of the road is where this spot is. If this is something that you are interested in, buddha, maybe when should talk onthe phone and I could giude you to where I'm talking about. Just think of it, buddha could be driving the "support car".

I usually pack mine in with me. What are temps up there? Smiley i'm going to Troy for my appointment on wednesday. How far is that from airport? Do you live in detroit?
bbinkley
9:52:59 AM
10/03/02

Well, the last couple days have been in the high 70's, low 80's. Today, high of 65. Tomorrow, back to the upper 70's. Could frost next weekend, who knows. Be prepared for anything!

Troy is prolly close to an hour from the airport, maybe a little less. None of us actually live "in" Detroit, we're all in the 'burbs.

BBinkley, check Gaylord, MI, on weather.com...it's the closest city to where we'll be. The fall colors should be gorgeous next weekend.

If you guyz choose that friday spot, I may be able to meet up with you, but don't choose it just because of me. I still don't know how far I can get driving (my right knee is busted).

I'll pack in some beer, hell yeah!

Cannister not needed. We will hang in a tree on Friday night and at Pinney Campground Saturday, They have "critter poles" to hang the food.
