Another cool, damp morning in the north woods. Hurry up, coffee maker.” 7:39:35 AM 5/25/04 “Steamy here in NC, weather man is calling for 90ties... ahhh where's the creek when you got these temps? 9 more days of school and counting..” 7:42:32 AM 5/25/04 Morning all! Rox, you lucky dog..... “I always hate the end of the year when all the teachers are packing up for summer and hauling away all their goodies from the students and my work is just about to get really hard. This is my last summer clean-up EVER and I'm soooo happy about it! Rox, make sure you never ask your custodians how their summer vacation was, lol. :)” 7:59:49 AM 5/25/04 “Uh............ no, I don't think that's what I meant LOL” 8:04:37 AM 5/25/04 “Sass, the other day when I was out toiling in the front yard, one of our college's facilities crew stopped on the sidewalk to say hi as he headed to his brother-in-law's place two doors down. I laughed and told him that here I was on break between terms and for "fun" I was doing his job. He did point out that the grounds at the school might be a bit bigger. One of the lessons I learned from my dad, who's a retired college administrator as well as a retired Navy non-com, was be nice to the support staff.” 8:09:54 AM 5/25/04 “morning yall!! beautiful weather today. high of 94 or more! I think it's time to plan a trip near water” 8:13:31 AM 5/25/04 “Giddyup!” 8:22:11 AM 5/25/04 “morning ya'll haved a good one ... yeah I know ... "I already have a good one, i need a better one"” 4:58:33 AM 5/26/04 “Ha!” 5:14:53 AM 5/26/04 “Good morning, everyone. *yawn* Time to hit the shower and get going. IT Certification test this morning.” 5:21:59 AM 5/26/04 “I dun have to get up...I dont work anymore :P” 5:22:18 AM 5/26/04 “Well, I'm going to go stomp around on the Bartram Trail before the heat cranks up. Keep a low profile, folks. Watch out for the Blue Meanies.... (StickmanWalking is out there somewhere with his radar gun)” 5:37:37 AM 5/26/04 “Four fillings today at the dentist. =( I hate the drill!” 8:08:55 AM 5/26/04 “Great sunny morning. Will spend the day mowing, trimming, and generally tidying up things for a minor wing-ding we are hosting this evening. However, our housebound cat managed to slip out and, though he is declawed, I'll be worried for the birds until I can corner him. He gets pretty freaked out eventually at being outdoors, but still is hard to get back in until that happens.” 8:26:18 AM 5/26/04 “I guess I complained too much about it being dry here this spring. We had 50-70 mph sraightline winds last night and 6 inches of rain overnight. That's on top of rain on Monday. We have 100 percent chance again today and thunderstorms forecast for the rest of the week and into the weekend. I think I'll swim to work.” 8:33:38 AM 5/26/04 “Waiter! What's this fly doing in my soup?? The backstroke, I think.” 10:20:06 AM 5/26/04 “We've had no heavy rain since February. We aren't going to get any until (maybe) some time in June. Please, send the rain here! My fear is we'll havenothing until some tropical system parks it over our area and the ground will be so crispy it'll roll off, not absorb.” 10:48:33 AM 5/26/04 “Morning hugs!!!!!! It is Thursday......2 more days to work and payday for me!!! I leave for the coast fri eve, I am so excited.....an adventure it will be!!! We are going to catch crabs :0 WooooHooooo.. And doing the Flora Bama Sat eve......My daughter says I am such a tourist!!!! I hope everyone has a GREAT day!!!. I know I am....as of today I am DEBT FREE!!!!!!!!!Wooo Hooooooo......” 4:29:58 AM 5/27/04 “Debt-free....that is so awesome! I'd love to hear more about how you did it... Congrats!” 4:33:38 AM 5/27/04 Mornin'! “Wow, Congratulations Divinity! That's awesome and not an easy accomplishment.” 7:52:26 AM 5/27/04 “Very light rain overnight followed by a damp, light gray morning here in the North Woods. Lots of bird song. More rain expected today (maybe), but what I have to prepare for is the clearing skies this evening -- a frost advisory out for northern Wisconsin and da U.P. Going to have to cover my tender shoots in the garden. As for the moment, I'm just trying to get that first cup of java down, stretch out some aches from my garden chores, and give myself at least part of the day off from other chores -- I am, afterall, supposed to be on vacation! I'll probably spend part of the day, though, reading in the two books that came yesterday from Amazon via da big brown truck that I'll be using with my summer school composition students. Food is the theme I'm giving them, and their main reader is The Penguin Companion to Food, a really cool, nearly 1,100 page encyclopedia of all things food.” 8:02:57 AM 5/27/04 “No rain. It's going to be a white sky day. High temps and middling humidity with killer glare. Guess I better run out and toss the sprinkler on my plants again.” 8:16:06 AM 5/27/04 “I didn`t see my pillow, I never went to bed I stayed up all night, wrote a lil` and read I watched the sun come up this morning, over the trees like it had a right to, just as pretty as you please coffee cup in hand, I watched the smoke from my cigarette wisp away something magical and wonderful about mornings and a brand new day” 3:15:55 PM 5/27/04 “Papa Oscar Echo Tango Sierra!” 5:33:46 AM 5/28/04 “Good morning” 5:34:23 AM 5/28/04 “Good morning. Just one more workday until a nice three day weekend. I found out yesterday that I passed my certification test with the highest score of the class. I missed one question out of 60. I'm now a Certified Software Manager. It deals with software licensing and piracy. Arrrrgggh, me buckos!” 5:56:19 AM 5/28/04 “Congrats shiracer” 5:57:03 AM 5/28/04 “Did you see that pirate movie? I heard it was rated ARRRRRRrrrrrrrrrr.” 6:35:28 AM 5/28/04 “Congrats skiracer! Good Friday morning!!!!” 8:06:11 AM 5/28/04 “And since you're all apparently DYING to know.... "POETS" stands for "Piss On Everything, Tomorrow's Saturday!". Cheers!” 8:10:35 AM 5/28/04 “I biked to work this morning and the price of crude (today's London market) dropped below $40 a barrel. Coincidence? I think not! Anyway it was a nice ride; no snow or rain for a change. That comes this weekend....” 8:13:43 AM 5/28/04 “SNOW this weekend? no way dude! or you mean rain? congratulations to skiracer and divinity!” 8:31:24 AM 5/28/04 “We're supposed to have a little snow up in the mountains. I froze my tomatoes last week it was so cold!” 8:33:02 AM 5/28/04 “zoinks! poor tomatoes. ;-)” 8:35:41 AM 5/28/04 “Ug...I just got into work. Got a phone call from my mother Wednesday morning. They had been dealing with basement flooding since Sunday, and she was exhausted. I can't tell you the last time she has cried, but she cried while on the phone with me, so I knew it was pretty bad. Left work Wednesday, headed up to their house (2 1/2 hour drive) and just got home this morning. Sucks to have to come into work for one day before a big holiday weekend, but I have stuff that has to get done, and I don't want to burn any more vacation time. I'll be headed back up there tomrrow. My sister is headed up today to help them out. I just hope no one expects me to think too hard today.” 9:06:01 AM 5/28/04 “congrats, div & skiracer. hmmm, div you got any money i can borrow :)” 9:17:07 AM 5/28/04 “Beautiful sunny morning in the North Woods after an overnight low of 34, and only expected to hit 60 or so by this afternoon. Parental health crisis hit yesterday and reino had to, as they would say on M*A*S*H, bug out to the U.P. in a hurry, but things are now under control and I'll only be unsupervised until tomorrow. Has been a pretty eventful/busy vacation just staying at home. A wedding of a colleague and a former student tomorrow at the casino should be a decent party.” 9:55:14 AM 5/28/04 “The weather forecast for here said up to two inches of snow...in town!!! And I have a golf tournament tomorrow. I guess I'll be wearing my winter hat and winter golf gloves. Reminder: Fill traveler with Bourbon.” 9:57:25 AM 5/28/04 “...and don't forget your orange balls!” 9:59:01 AM 5/28/04 “I think they'll be blue.” 10:12:08 AM 5/28/04 “As far as most Mondays go, this ain't too shabby!” 5:26:06 AM 5/31/04 “Sun's out. Haven't seen it for days. I'm definitely going to head out and see what sort of trouble...er...adventure I can get myself into. Where the hell have you people been?” 7:09:51 AM 5/31/04 “Hit the deck running, slackers! Short week this go-'round.” 5:31:04 AM 6/01/04 “Good morning. Nice day for coffee and ducks. I imagine if you're a duck that drinks coffee this will really be your day. Hope everyone made it back safely from their adventures.” 6:13:02 AM 6/01/04 g'morning “Got up at 6:30 after dreaming about making bets on my dead pet.. go figure where that came from..in a computer class no less...ah the mind is a complex machine It's now after 8 and the day is going to be in the low 80ties in Charlotte, everyone around the area are still buzzing over the past weekend races at the Charlotte motor speedway. Me I am not much into racing so after 3 days hiking I spent yesterday cleaning and throwing out old and getting new stuff organize. Only six more days of school and I am sure it will go fast... Have a good day all!” 8:00:31 AM 6/01/04 “It's a good day here--for me anyway! I'm waiting to see if one of my co-workers makes it today. There was a story in the paper yesterday that a man and his son were skiing the Gardiner headwall up in the Beartooths on Sunday and had to be rescued. The son crashed and slid down into some rocks a couple hundrede feet down. His father tried to get to him, but slipped and fell into the rocks as well. The Search and Rescue got them out--the son was slightly injured but his father was erious. They ranch right near the foot of the Beartooths and it takes him about an hour to get to work so we'll see if he shows.” 8:26:10 AM 6/01/04 “YIKES, Aero! i hope he's ok.” 8:31:35 AM 6/01/04 “Yeah, I think it might be him, though. The paper said the guy was 47 and his son is 11 and that sounds like them. On the bright side, they said the rescue went smoothly! Scary story!!” 8:35:47 AM 6/01/04 “Well! He showed up this morning! It turns out it was another 47-year old and his 11 yr old son who like to ski the headwalls! What are the odds?” 9:38:49 AM 6/01/04 “Cautionary tale, for sure.” 10:53:36 AM 6/01/04 Jump to Page << prev
