Another trip down the river yesterday. Had to paddle hard at the end, reaching the landing just at dark. My brother Mike seems to be sleeping in. Today he goes back and tomorrow I pick up brother Paul, repeat this grueling process of non-stop fishing marathons and river trips, then it's brother Tim for more of the same. This retirement business isn't for the weak; ya gotta be tough!

It's pretty cool, we're catching tons of fish - bluegill, crappy's, northern, walleye, large and small mouth bass. Everything gets returned to the water; we're too lazy to clean 'em. When the last brother has gone home, I'm taking another 2 or 3 day trip down the river and purge myself of the close encounters with human beings. Following that I'm headed to the Superior Trail and toward fall out to Isle Royale.

Sass - no problem, come on down. Can you trash talk while you fish? Most of our fun yesterday was lying to people we passed on the river about all the fish we caught and where they were biting. We also worked out a pretty good Deliverance skit for the visitors from Minnesota and Illinois. We plan on remaking the movie from the perspective of the locals.

I've been up and running around since 5:45 now, packing the car, cleaning the house, getting the garbage out, and trying to finish everything up so I can leave and go see HPM and see what's going on in Charlotte.

I don't 'spose you'll go along with this, but you could save a ton of that effort and go fishing with it if you just called him on one of those new-fangled video phones. Seems like a lot of work just to go see an old spouse or 'sumpin.

It was starting to rain up high and now down low. Just had to get a TT-fix.

Found a couple of hunting dogs today. They probably came up from Indian Territory. Don't know if they have any hunting seasons.

Enjoy your day.

I can't sleep anymore.

I got up at 0600 after being awake a couple hours.

I guess later, I will take my daughter to the pool for the afternoon if it doesn't rain.

been up since 5:15 am and avoiding sanding drywall, hanging drywall, installing a door at a friends shop, planning my menu for the 2 nighter that H and I are going on next weekend.....generally just avoiding. It's amazing how many things you can find to do when you don't want to do the things you're supposed to be doing

GOsh BowlderMan, your invitation must have been lost in the mail! :)

Today involves a lot of nothing for me until 4PM when some festivities start. Well, I'll be cleaning the house, but that's about it.

G is sleeping still - his bachelor party is tonight as well. He worked the senior all-night party Thursday night, then worked all day Friday, and finally got to sleep about 9PM. He's still young, so it doesn't hurt him as much to be so tired. Someday it'll catch up to him. ;)

Good Morning! It's hot, 114 predicted here today, got in the car yesterday afternoon and the thermometer read 117 there on the driveway! 4.5 months of this to go. Except for the weekends in the mountains, trips out of town, hopefully a week in the Wind Rivers late summer etc. etc. etc. Kids are coming over in a bit and we'll have Father's Day because daughter will be out of town for it. I've got caramel french toast, sausage, eggs planned. Will do some ironing till then. Just a domestic god here today.

Been up since 5:30 AM. It's no longer raining, as it did most of the weekend, but the mosquitos are out in force. Thank goodness for my Bug Shirt when walking the dog. Too bad they don't make them for dogs. I have to brush the mosquitos from his face every few seconds.

Busy day today meeting with clients and then a tennis match at 6 PM. I sure hope we play today. It's already been postponed twice due to rain.

Well, my day just got confusing. We were planning on getting a new house around Dec. Baby due in Sept and just two much to deal with now. Friday I saw what appeared to be what we're looking for in the local sales mag. We're looking at it a week from Thur. Mtn view from backyard, 4 acres, pool, killer pool house, and 4br with playroom upstairs. Downside, I don't really need to buy now and it's 10 miles from work. I'm 4 miles right now and get to go home for lunch each day. Ahh, decisions, decisions.

Brother #5, Paul, is visiting this week. He's not that much into floating rivers, so we're working around the house, putting up shelves, ceiling fans, hanging pictures, rearranging furniture, refinishing other furniture, pressure cleaning decks, etc. I now have shelves for all of my books and a lot of my hiking gear. Life is pretty good at the moment, but I am hoping to sneak in a trip down another section of the Namekagon.

I have coffee, broadband and a job. Things got very interesting at the end. We came out of the mountains from Yellowstone with several voicemails and soon learned that the merging of two groups that I was supposed to join had fallen apart, never to be put together again. I got to choose between the two, in effect. whew.

Unpacking progressing to the stage in which interior decorating starts to interfere. Time to find a hike or bike ride. ;-D

Hi all,

I have another interview set up for next week Tuesday - this is a school I'd really like to work at! Please keep your fingers crossed for me!

And, its nap time for me. A cool and quiet house, a perfect recipe for it. Someone wake me up in a hour or so.

Did a hike today to the Barnett Fire Tower. The closed road to it is along the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile 462.3.About 0.5 to 0.75 mi. going up took me an hour, while racing down took 1.5 hours.

Hope you're enjoying your week.

Here at work by 5am to try and get enough done to leave for a few days. Our plan was to leave Thur and go to Atlanta to the Aquarium. They have 4 whale sharks. We'd drive to NE GA to grab a hotel and then Friday morning continue to the Smokies. Friday will be either a hike to some waterfalls or maybe some rafting. Sat will be at the Oconuluftee (sp?) farm in the morn and Clingmon's Dome in the afternoon with a picnic lunch. This is the only weekend this whole summer we can go. It might be a 20 hr day, but by gosh, I'm gonna find a way to the Smokies.

Clingman's Dome was where I got smacked in the head by a big chunk of ice falling off a tree. I'd like to see it in better conditions, although the snow and ice on the trees made it memorably beautiful. Have a great trip.

My non-river floating brother and I actually did float down the Namekagon yesterday. It was gorgeous. When we got to the end I hopped on the bike earlier stashed in the bushes and rode back to the truck. It was a great day and some great exercise.

The only time I've been there I hiked up from Elkmont. It was my first hiking trip to the Smokies and we had a 14 mile, +3500'/-3500' day. I learned a lesson that day. Going up is hard. We were mostly clouded in that day. I hope for good weather this time around.
