Good luck with it Nimblefoot. Today is my final exam at the hospital. I wonder if I botch it if they'll fire me? ;) We have the entire week off of school here. The kidlet and I will be driving to Kansas in a few days for a bridal shower. Looking forward to seeing my family.” 6:53:15 AM 3/24/08 “I'd drive to Kansas to watch a bride take a shower:)” 7:03:40 AM 3/24/08 “mornin'... the weekend just flew by... Friday night we went to dinner with a friend at Margaritaville and the kids had fried ice cream, soooo yummy...Saturday Ana tested for her yellow belt (test was 2 hours long) and got it, so there was celebration lunch at the Chinese restaurant...then off to my moms so the kids could decorate egg shaped cupcakes and make cookies for Sunday dessert...we all piled in the truck to sleep out, told camping stories, and 2 kidlets fell asleep, only to have one wake up when my nephew decided he had no room and I needed to go play easter bunny...LOL...we decided we've outgrown the truck for sure and will go back to tenting next year. We all went in the house and I was outed to the 9 year old, as I let her help my nephew put the eggs out...and then the "carrots" after I got those ready. Sunday morning egg/carrot hunt, then up to my moms for baskets, ham dinner, goose chasing, kite fying and a visit to a sugar shack where vanilla ice cream drizzled with maple syrup is the new favorite. :) Kids were zonked at 9pm in the truck on the way home...” 7:06:55 AM 3/24/08 “Woke up to a sunny morning...looked at the bird feeders which are about 15 feet from the bedroom window and there was a big, lovely piliated woodpecker jumping around my suet feeders...it stuck around for a few minutes...a beautiful thing to see in the early morning sun... It's Monday...tomorrow I am supposed to return to work after a 12 day absence...it's gonna be tough at first...I have no stamina...” 7:31:40 AM 3/24/08 “Good Morning hugs to all!!!! ....back to work...wooo hoooo.... ...counting down....one week until my birthday....I have a theory...if ya want someone to remember something...keep reminding them!!!!...I will be 54...wowsers!!!...oldness setting in!!! ...got word this am my aunt died :( & I can't take the time off to go to Ohio for the funeral since I took 4 days off last week for illness :( ..life is precious.... lots of HUGS!!!!!” 3:19:38 AM 3/25/08 “DIV, Welcome to 54, I did that last year, feels GREAT! I feel like I'm going on 45 this year....keep hiking, biking, making whoopee, and DON"T SAY THE WORK 'old'......” 5:32:46 AM 3/25/08 “Right..spring...sure...not gonna happen here...ever....it will probably still be snowing in July...next week temps are going to be in the 30's...and it will be APRIL dammit! how does it go? April snows bring spring woes? bla! Getting ready to head back to work today...wish me luck!” 5:36:50 AM 3/25/08 “Good luck Mata! Hey, I made a risoto for Easter dinner that practically slid down everyone's throats and was oh so good. Do you think that might be something you could swallow? I thought of you while I was making it.” 5:41:32 AM 3/25/08 “Good Morning...ok...so I woke up & can't go back to sleep... Mata...I hope your day went well yesterday!!! Thanks Chappy...so far, my 50's have been GREAT!!! Sass...sounds yummy!!! Ya know....ya never know what is going on in peoples lives.....a young woman I work with, has been acting depressed, not doing her share of work....I am ashamed to say, I reacted badly...thought she had gotten lazy...but come to find out her husband was caught exposing himself,(he had done this before, I guess) arrested, and then tried to commit suicide. ...how sad for her...& I didn't see it...so I will be working on compassion...and a few other areas in my life.... ...what do you do when you children call you & they are having problems with their dad???(my ex)...all I can say is I'm sorry.. for all their lives you could fix, or try to fix problems with them or for them, but my hands are tied on this one....Maybe that is part of letting go as a mother??? ...sorry...I'm rambling on....” 12:16:57 AM 3/26/08 “Good morning, It's sunny out and looks like it'll be a nice day. I just watched a little of the Today show and they said an old, worn parachute was found buried on a farmers property in Washington State. They suspect it may be the parachute D.B Cooper used when he hijacked the plane in the 1970's.” 5:16:41 AM 3/26/08 “21F...morning...not much else to say....” 5:31:17 AM 3/26/08 “now there's an interesting story.... Good morning all....lookin cloudy here and 60 degrees....now for coffee......” 5:33:26 AM 3/26/08 “mornin' woke to an inch of snow - very nice as it covered the dull stuff that is never gonna go away...Austin calls it the never ending winter. I feel for ya div, went thru that with my son with his dad and now the kidlets with their mom...just knowing they have someone to talk to is good for them...” 5:50:17 AM 3/26/08 “Had to reset the router this morning. It's too early for tech crap. It's in the 50's here now, and I have the window to this room cracked open. The big fancy monitor we have puts out considerable heat. Laurel helped me plant a bunch of garlic yesterday. This morning I decided to go through the garlic bulbs still in the kitchen, and that were sprouting just got set out in the garden too. I had a bluebird give me what for this morning, because I interrupted his performance from the top of our weather station. Oops.” 6:01:15 AM 3/26/08 “Big, fat, juicy snowflakes coming down, of the variety to make cotton candy. It's been fairly easy the last couple of weeks, but it's gettin' time for March to roar out like a lion.” 6:06:01 AM 3/26/08 “...and just like that it stopped. Would it be too much to ask for "sunshine"? Just a little? Pretty please?” 6:22:41 AM 3/26/08 “and now the sun is shining. The sky is blue. God likes me best:)” 6:40:12 AM 3/26/08 “I hope everyone has a GREAT morning!” 3:37:22 AM 3/27/08 “so far it's lookin good, coffee is done brewin....now for some liquid sunshine cause caffein likes me best.....” 4:09:38 AM 3/27/08 “Morning..each one this week has been a bit easier than the one before...I like that...” 4:52:22 AM 3/27/08 “I GET TO FILL UP THE POND TODAY! WOO HOO! Right after my manicure dries, of course.” 6:37:44 AM 3/27/08 “So it was just a coincedence that somebody showed up here with the name "mudhole"..... < G >” 6:58:01 AM 3/27/08 “This is a lined pond. Any mud occurring in this pond got there because A) someone didn't wash off the wading boots before entering or B) it was lobbed in there. I'm concerned at this point about total volume; it appears to be quite a bit smaller than I initially expected.” 8:13:59 AM 3/27/08 “I was thinkin' maybe the pond had its own identity on TrailTalk, < WINK > oh Nooooo..... not that irregular stretched hexagon again! LOL (or was it an octagon)” 10:21:10 AM 3/27/08 “Slightly flattened hexagon, with stepped levels going down. Yep, that monster.” 10:31:10 AM 3/27/08 “Good Morning HUGS!!! So good to hear Mata!!!! beautiful weather in L A!!!!! Have a GREAT day!!!” 2:40:50 AM 3/28/08 “mornin'... snowing again today! :)” 5:24:20 AM 3/28/08 “It will be around 80 degrees here today, tomorrow is 56 and sunday somewhere around 47. Yikes.” 6:37:17 AM 3/28/08 “I'm home from work because it looks like I am soon going to have to apply for permanent disability. My job, at present, consists of working with items that go into a cleanroom. Up until now, we have put those parts into a machine and washed them with a bleach mixture. We are getting rid of this machine. All my coughing (I cough with almost every swallow) is a cause for concern as is my general health...I look like a walking skeleton and am obviously not in good health. Between chronic pneumonia and the after effects of radiation (permanent swallowing problems...whole right side of my inner neck is basically dead) I suppose I am a good candidate for disability but it is still very hard to accept. I like working. I like being productive. I like my job...this sucks... Everything works the way it should...my doctors at Mayo told me 7 years ago I was a candidate for disability. It was my own drive and stubbornness that kept me working. I think I had a great run. I emailed my favorite doc down at Mayo...he was out of town but he forwarded my email to his assistant to get things rolling...you know, you feel special when a Mayo doctor responds to an email in 2 hours...but, Dr Brown knows me...he knows me very well and if I say I can no longer work, he knows I can no longer work. It will work out...I will have more time to devote to my health...I will have the stress of trying to work and wondering if I can do it removed. I will be able to pace myself...it's time.... However, right now I have to cough all that junk out of my lungs and think about trying to eat something...” 7:16:47 AM 3/28/08 “Sorry to hear all that, Mata. If I can do anything at all, you know where I am and know my email. I'll help where I can.” 7:23:22 AM 3/28/08 “I am sorry Mata.” 7:57:09 AM 3/28/08 “That really sucks, Mata. More outdoor time, right? ;)” 7:58:02 AM 3/28/08 “Mata: :( I've got 10 minutes left until Spring Break. If one more kid turns in a late assignment today, AFTER I've already calculated and locked grades, and TWO DAYS AFTER I told them work was due, I'm gonna kill them. I'm suprised I didn't hurt anyone as the day went on. They were SO needy today! I'm glad I have a week off! We got over an inch of snow last night. Its still spring, right?? We're 10-15 degrees below normal lately. I want sunshine and warm weather! Have a great weekend everyone. I'll be sleeping. :)” 11:27:06 AM 3/28/08 “what? now we have to go to latta to post our crusty-eyed, caffein injected ramblings???” 6:32:40 AM 3/29/08 “ Good Luck Mata !! ; ^ ) ” 8:24:25 AM 3/29/08 “Good morning. Gray and overcast, but it probably didn't get below 33 last night, so the melting continues. I walked for a couple of miles in the woods yesterday, the snow is thinning out nicely and the stream is opening up more and more. In a couple of weeks people will be parking on the road and trying to sneak in and catch my trout. It's kind of funny, really; I never say no to anyone.” 7:38:42 AM 3/30/08 “Good morning! I had a really big, for me, breakfast this morning...chopped up onion, bacon and hashbrowns which I lightly fried in lots of butter. Added a slice of American and an egg beaten with a tablespoon of 1/2 & 1/2 which I scrambled into the hashbrowns. AND, I ate the whole thing! Took me an hour but I did it! Washed it down with a big mug of coffee and a 600 calorie Scandi shake...so, I think it is obvious I'm feeling better... I think deciding that I am not returning to work has given me a boost. Before, I used week-ends to get enough strength to see me through work. Now, I can no longer recoup enough in that time. I need to just hunker down and fatten up...man, that sounds so weird.... Hope some of you have decent weather and get out this week-end...” 10:13:51 AM 3/30/08 “Good to hear Mata & really sounds YUMMY!!!! ...we cooked out yesterday with Lee's family....ribs, chicken, sausage, potato salad,.....& I made a nice pasta salad, a corn salad, dirty rice, & Lee made catfish in a foil pouch....yummmmmm.... ...getting ready for next weekend...Lee's kids & the GRANDBABY will all be here to help his daughter get ready for her Junior prom....it will be a GREAT time!!!!! & we will celebrate my birthday!!!!...woooo hooooooo!!!! ...ya'll have a GREAT day today!!!!!!!” 2:45:35 AM 3/31/08 “TGIM? LOL” 3:38:19 AM 3/31/08 “Good morning, the weather was great all weekend for doing anything outside. I went dayhiking Saturday and Sunday, but it would have been nice to go backpacking over the weekend. Matahari, glad to hear you feel better and are eating well again. Good nutrition makes a big difference.” 4:48:44 AM 3/31/08 “mornin'... it's supposed to snow today...never thought I'd say this, but I am ready for it all to go away, LOL... the kids have been out riding bikes in mud and snow...even when it's snowing...since daylight savings time...” 5:58:54 AM 3/31/08 “White stuff, little tiny flakes, from a sky that looks November gray in its bleakness. Is March finally roaring out? Deer are looking anemic as their color gradually changes from that rich, dark, gray-brown of their winter coat into something that is currently pale and sickly looking. They are looking somewhat gaunt, ribs seeming a bit more pronounced than usual, but they haven't had a bad winter. I saw some wolf scat on the trail yesterday, deer hair and jagged bone fragments. Have a nice day.” 6:01:21 AM 3/31/08 “Good Morning, I'm back home now. The 13 hour drive to and fro is not so pleasant when you're the only driver. But, Abby is an amazing traveler...no complaints, good company, and it doesn't even require a DVD player to keep her mesmerized. We drove a longer, but more peaceful route through Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. I liked it and it took the same amount of time. Worth the extra gallons of gas to not have psycho Indianapolis police and St Louis drivers after me! Looks like you guys had an eventful few days. Has anyone heard from Nowslimmer yet? I emailed him last week and still haven't heard from him. I'm worried. last edited: 3/31/08 6:17:05 AM” 6:07:55 AM 3/31/08 “Morning. My first day of Spring Break. My to-do list is 3 miles long. I took E to daycare this morning, so I should be able to get a considerable amount of my list crossed off. THere is a lot of talk about food on this thread, LOL! Dreary, gray, drizzly and warm here. Up near 60 today and tomorrow, only for the temp to drop like a rock tomorrow and snow on its way. Lovely. I don't think Gordie's first baseball game will be played tomorrow. :( Have a great day, everyone.” 6:11:46 AM 3/31/08 “Morning. My first day of Spring Break. My to-do list is 3 miles long. We got a bunch of snow yesterday, but I'm not plowing. Either the jeep will bust on through or I'm staying home til it melts. I'm protesting and if this don't work I may hold my breath:)” 4:50:35 AM 4/01/08 “Happy birthday Divinity. It's warm out here at 59 degrees, but not very nice out with drizzle coming down. They said thunderstorms might be on the way for this afternoon.” 4:58:21 AM 4/01/08 “well, we got no tornados but all that was 50 miles north of us...not even a wind storm.....just as well, the new garden don't need the hail and crap that went with it....over on the other thread, Div.....” 5:42:31 AM 4/01/08 “Happy Birthday, Div! Today is my neighbor Sharis' birthday, too. Laurel and I have some sort of crud again. Hard to tell if it's another cold or really bad allergies. I'm betting allergies, since most of Laurel's symptoms go away with just an antihistamine.” 6:18:49 AM 4/01/08 Jump to Page << prev
