Instead of sinking into the powder, like it was before the rain, now the snow is hard so you just cruise on top and hardly sink at all. It's very fast snowshoeing and not tiring like it is when you sink in 8 or so inches. The rain made the skiing fast, but we could use some fresh snow to cover the frozen granular up. It's icy in spots, but fast, too fast on the downhills for me. With backcountry touring skis you can ski anywhere since the rain packed the snow down. I skied a few roads at the Pinchot Trail yesterday and snowshoed two sections of the western part of the trail.
