Gave up soda with caffeine and her pain was gone. She still drinks caffeine free soda, so for her it was the caffeine.” 9:15:42 AM 3/18/03 “Thanks you guys! Well then I'll try to stay decaffeinated Stump, and I'll limit my carbonated beverages to an occasional beer, just in case the soda was a contributer. It is beautiful again today. Really looks like winter is gone for this year. I have to clean out my gardens of leaves and debris. Shhhh don't tell my husband but I'm hoping to dig a new little garden that I'll fortify against the animals, for a vegetable plot.” 10:53:39 AM 3/18/03 “YAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 more days and then its off to the woods again! 8)” 5:26:37 AM 3/19/03 oh my god!!!! “the suitcase ad on a tuesday. Before I had my coffee! Not god!” 5:38:33 AM 3/19/03 “opps it's already wednesday” 5:39:18 AM 3/19/03 “I know that thing sucks!!!!! 8o” 5:40:25 AM 3/19/03 “Good morning everyone! Busy day AGAIN! Gotta run, stuff must get done.” 5:53:48 AM 3/19/03 “Good morning! Nice day out here too.” 6:01:30 AM 3/19/03 “Hi Yall!! Take the umbrella it is a mess out there...well here anyway! :)” 7:57:52 AM 3/19/03 “Good day for hypothermia here. Low 30's, windy, and rain.” 8:00:01 AM 3/19/03 “not bad here. Well I am inside and its a balmy 75. Outside it is hazy gray and dreary.” 8:09:45 AM 3/19/03 “morning! I think today it's the last day of rain. they say we are hitting 80 today! yawwwnnnnnnnnn!! coffeeeeee!” 5:48:08 AM 3/21/03 “no way!! you're still all in bed? I'm the first??” 5:51:32 AM 3/21/03 “Mornin' Gemini, I'm up. Today I face the hell that is known as the DMV. Gotta get a FL license and tags. Florida literally has dozens of different plates you can get, I'm going to get the "conserve wildlife" one that has the bear on it. Nice weather here today also. Highs in the lower 80's with thunderstorms.” 5:56:16 AM 3/21/03 “hope you don't have to pay taxes each year for your car. Could not believe it when we moved to SC. We did not have to pay this in TN.” 5:59:54 AM 3/21/03 “Nope, luckily Florida dosen't have a law like that. I heard Georgia does though. Bummage.” 6:18:15 AM 3/21/03 “Artex-I think there's something like 60 designs available, with some still in the works. They had Columbia plates out a few weeks ago.” 6:50:08 AM 3/21/03 “I bought a conserve wildlife license plate in PA. about 6 years ago. It has an owl sitting on a hemlock branch, but the new ones have a river otter on them, I think. Last night, I started working on replacing the floor and lower side walls on one of my tents with silicone nylon. Now, I know why they charge $90 to $200 to do this job. It's quite a bit of work, but I'll just keep picking away at it until it's finished. It will be worth it in the long run.” 7:02:17 AM 3/21/03 Wake Up!!! “It's time for all good little children to make their way out of bed, watch the sunrise and do their chores.” 4:43:27 AM 3/22/03 “Those good little children need to wake up to the 21st century! :-)” 6:46:56 AM 3/22/03 “I'm up. Already had my coffee too. I am now just waiting for my hiking partner. Normally I leave around 4:45 if I go hiking on the weekend, but his time my hiking buddy is coming down here, and she isn't getting out of bed. Right clem??? ;) I think we are driving up to the foothills today. Found a trail that seams to be nice: Laurel Fork Falls, I think it's a long hike, but it's not getting dark until 6:30 now.” 7:41:46 AM 3/22/03 “Good morning!!! Man, it's going to be a beautiful day today. Sun, warmth, everything!!! I think I will wash my car today :) Can't even remember the last time I did. umm, coffee sure tasts good.” 6:54:16 AM 3/24/03 “Gemini got up on the right side of bed today! I'm crabby because the weekend went by so fast. I want more. =(” 6:59:21 AM 3/24/03 “Good morning, It's nice here too with bright sunshine. I almost have my tent finished and just need to sew on the binding tape, guypoints around the bottom and seam sealing. This was a lot more time consuming than I thought it would be, but it sure looks cool and the tent packs up much smaller than it did with the PU nylon floor. It's a half pound lighter now too.” 7:04:41 AM 3/24/03 “Richb, it is cool that you sew well enough to make your own gear! I am very impressed. You must be very skilled or very patient, one or the other, or maybe both, lol.” 7:09:19 AM 3/24/03 “Yeah, I'm impressed too. I can't sew worth crap. I'm pretty handy with duct tape though. :-)” 7:12:11 AM 3/24/03 “Oh boy, it would be great if I could sew. pfttt... I can't even sew a pillow. My problem is that I want it done now, and not in 4 hours. I am way too unpatient. Sucks!” 7:12:49 AM 3/24/03 “I really don't sew that well as far as straight seams, but it's good enough to get the job done. It's funtional for sure and that's good enough for me. The tent I fixed is a close copy of a Sierra Designs Flashlight. With the silnylon walls and floor it weighs around 3 pounds now. I like how small it packs now. If the fly wasn't in good shape I'd probably do the fly in silnylon too, but since it's still good I won't bother for now.” 7:21:23 AM 3/24/03 “Now I thought you were the guy who sews all sorts of gear? You don't make sleeping bags and whatnot?” 7:24:28 AM 3/24/03 “I didn't try a sleeping bag yet, but I probably won't anytime soon since I already have 3 bags that I like. I only have a few more things on the list to make and then that will it be it for a while.” 7:33:23 AM 3/24/03 “Is it hard to get the material? Does your basic material store have that kind of stuff or did you order it?” 7:58:46 AM 3/24/03 “I forgot to say "Good Morning" ..."Good Morning" I am back at work. Whoopee ( did you sense my excitment).” 8:00:36 AM 3/24/03 “BigPoppa, Joanne Fabrics, etc doesn't carry technical fabrics but there are a few online places to order it, along with down filling. They've been mentioned by name on TT before, I can't remember what they were though.” 8:02:02 AM 3/24/03 “Fabric is from Outdoor wilderness fabrics. The local fabric store around here doesn't have nylon suitable for outdoor gear.” 8:02:56 AM 3/24/03 “Sass. I think I told you I have an old sewing machine left in the house when I move in. Making a tent seems kind of fun. I can not imagine what it would turn out as. It might end up looking like a tent. Richb - Did you have a pattern or did you just eyeball it?” 8:35:33 AM 3/24/03 BigPoppa “I know you can buy the Henry Shire tarp tent pattern @ his website. Lemme see if I can find a link....” 12:26:58 PM 3/24/03 “Check this link out, it has all sorts of great web addy's, including Henry Shire's site, scroll down down down...Links” 12:30:34 PM 3/24/03 “questoutfitters.com is a source I've used for fabric.” 12:50:23 PM 3/24/03 “thanks I will check it out.” 1:07:11 PM 3/24/03 “BigPoppa, I didn't have a pattern because I didn't make the tent. What I did was replace the worn out floor and lower walls of a Eureka Cirrus tent with silicone nylon. I ripped out the old floor and walls and made patterns for the new pieces from that. It wasn't really expensive to do, but it was time consuming and it wasn't easy, at least for me. The pieces were hard to cut since this nylon is slippery. I really like this tent and there was nothing in the market I was interested in to replace it with. Even with the the factory flysheet the tent now weighs 3 pounds and folds up small. I had to ask myself, how much it would cost to buy a 2 man, double wall tent that has those specifications and everything out there was expensive. Now, I need to go and try it out.” 7:00:30 PM 3/24/03 “Hey, isn't posting on this thread illegal after 12pm?” 7:01:35 PM 3/24/03 “I forgot to read the rules.” 7:13:25 PM 3/24/03 “heII yeah it's illegal! After 12 your butt better be out of bed if you want to post on the "get-up" thread. hmm, Artex, what are we doing on this thread??” 7:21:10 PM 3/24/03 “Hey, I'm not posting here!” 7:22:47 PM 3/24/03 “Me neither!” 7:52:22 PM 3/24/03 “To cut synthetics, there is a heat scissors (I think that's what its's called.) Essencially it's a soldering iron with a flat tip that both cuts the fabric and fuses the edge so no ravelling. (sp?)” 9:41:38 PM 3/24/03 “We used to have one of those at my Dad's company. We did a project that was over a hundred thin sheets of various polymers with all sorts of holes cut in them. We actually wore out what we called the "hot knife." We found out how well it worked on fabrics when a customer who wasn't supposed to be in the production area came back with his raincoat on and laid the damn thing on the hot knife. Cut off the sleeve like a charm.” 9:48:11 PM 3/24/03 “I'm a freaking grandma!!!!!! I can't belive it! Oh man, that will take some getting used to! I need a cup of java now.” 5:32:52 AM 3/25/03 “A get up thread...I shouldn't be posting here since I haven't gone to bed yet...be back in about 5-6 hours....” 5:58:26 AM 3/25/03 “Its only Tuesday!!!! 8(” 6:40:57 AM 3/25/03 Jump to Page << prev
