We used to drive from Michigan to either SC or FL all the time when I was a kid. My brother was 9 years older, so there weren't too many games that the both of us were interested in. I'd do the invisible marker puzzles and games, read a lot of books, stare out the window, or sleep. My brother would sleep the whole way. at least until he was old enough to drive. One fun detail from when I was a kid was all of the interstate construction still going on back then; We stopped for "dynamite" zones quite often.

LOL...yes..I too got car sick if reading...I listened to oldies. ...50's & 60's...and sang loudly to keep awake!!!lol
..I remember riding from Ohio to Oklahoma in the summer as a kid with my grandparents...no AC...way hot......
...do ya'll remember " he's looking at me!" ???..."she touched me"????

...BUT...it only took ONE time for me to have to stop the car on I-65...my kids were small...about 4 & 6....they would not stop fighting....I " tore their butts up"... all I had to do from then on was say..." do you want me to stop this car?"...They would reply " No Mom" and that would be the end....
...one time we went on a trip, Sarah (aka the evil one) was riding in the navigator seat...and the ex was asleep on the bench seat behind us.....she was popping him with pop rocks...we laughed until we cried....he failed to see the humor...in fact..I'm not sure if he knew what we were laughing about....
...and once my ex was driving with my son, Ken up front with him...and Ken sang the whole soundtrack of "Nightmare Before Christmas" complete with movements to him...it was soooo funny ( maybe ya had to be there...)
...don't make me tell you the story about the "You Are Here" sign....

My wife thinks I'm crazy talking about these big trips. I really enjoyed the parts I got to see last night about the folks from Nebraska that would take these huge trip. I bet that Tuan Luang (sp?) could tear it up on the photography book market now that he was on this show.

We also had our own family unique traditions or games we played while on the road. One I mentioned earlier (the cotton in the nose, pig-faced thing). Another was to sing goodbye to states as we were leaving and hello to the new ones. Even today, when traveling with my 36 year old daughter, I'll belt out 'bye-bye Wisconsin, hello Michigan'. Weird looks:)

I see the Halloween names are starting to come out. I have no idea what my password is for Smiley Ghoul. Oh well.

Writing my 2nd annotation for my master's class. Due at midnight. I have a ways to go. Obviously, I'm here procrastinating. Writing an annotation is terribly boring. I figure I have 8 more hours to get it done, I should make it. :)

E moved to a big girl bed last night. She's also napping in it now. I can't believe she's doing so well with it. And heck, she's even sleeping without a binky right now! Amazing! She traded the binky in for Dora sheets for the bed. :)

Busy week ahead. Hope you all have a good rest of Sunday.

Sounds like fun, Div.

I had coffee for the first time in 2 weeks, along with my sushi for breakfast. My guts aren't too sure about that combo, but at least it's not outright pain like it was. Just more of a background murmur.

It's a lovely gray day here; cool, drizzly, and the birds are singing like mad outside. I had a bunch of monarchs come through the yard this weekend, on their migration. That's the first time (I think) I've seen monarchs here. Cool. The neighbor's Dane was peeking over the fence into our yard earlier; I thought it was watching the outdoor cats but it was the 3 whitetail deer thinking about raiding my garden. Watch out my pretties, it's legal to use a shotgun, crossbow or compound bow from my house! Moooahahaha! Okay, that was weird. Must be the coffee. :D

Time to head to the home despot, to make another return. Bleah.

But wait, there's more....my neighbor S. is taking a week-long training course out at the coast. She took the only car they have. Her husband just came over, asking if I can run him up to the gym so he can work out with his personal trainer. I didn't laugh, honest. It is a cold rain right now, so I'll let him get away with that excuse. Time to go clean out my car a bit, so I can take him up there, then on the THD. Toodles!

mornin!

we got eggs yesterday, first ones! They were small, but the yolks were nice and orange. I guess the eggs get bigger as they continue to lay. None today though.
Only thing is, my hens just lay them where ever...so it's like an easter egg hunt!
We collected four, but I think their may have been 6 - I didn't know until I read Nimblefoot's chicken thread that I should have been crushing any egg shells I gave them so they wouldn't mistake their eggs for food. But I don't know that they ate any, only that there were egg shells outside the pen - though anything could have eaten that one, and an egg shell inside - usually they eat those right up, but it could have been leftover. At any rate, I'm crushing them up now.

I was telling my chicken friend Darryl about my Sunday night entertainment...viewed from my seat on a cement block with a bud light...

Round about dusk-ish, the chickens all herd over to the "gate" (which at this moment is a piece of plywood that I slide back and forth) and they scooch down and jump/fly up on to the plywood. From there, they fly up to the top of the coop. Then the Reds fly over to the trees for the night. One had a hard time getting away from the Rocks - there seems to be a rivalry there with the Rock hens - perhaps the Rock hens don't like it that the Rock roosters chase the Red hens, LOL...anyway...one Rock hen roosts inside, and the other 5 Rocks sleep on the roof. The turkeys start out roosting on the plywood, which is a riot to watch them scooch, fly up, then try and gain their balance once up there. Sometimes they get on the roof, and other times they sleep in the field.

I love the noises the turkeys make, they kind of trill...and I'm even getting used to the roosters crowing, though I can see that their spurs are growing...

it should be a blast next year trying to introduce new birds...

Good morning! I slept like dook last night. Got the stupid flu shot and couldn't sleep on that shoulder, can't sleep on my belly or back so spent the night flipping from asleep on one side to awake on the other. But, it is still going to be a lovely day. I finally get my hair cut (2 weeks overdue and looking like bozo), and get prenatal yoga tonight which seems to make all my kinks go away.

You all have a great day.

It's a whopping 8 degrees at Yellowstone lake this morning. :)

Just discovered an outdoor cat left me an offering at the front door. I think it was a field mouse, judging by the rear feet and tail, which were all that were left. Reminds me of my first cat, Spider; truly an excellent hunter.

Good afternoon.

I was just informed from the Univ. of Florida Hospital about the results of testing yesterday. They want me to have some cauterization work done before they can put me in their experimental project with stem cells. They want to be sure that plenty of blood can get through to the muscles, before they insert the stem cells.

They said we have plenty of time, about 50 days. Sounds like they are trying to get me in the program by the end of November. This is a group that will not have any placebos in it.

Yesterday I had a tread mill test without a tread mill! They used an IV to enject something to simulate doing exercise. It seemed to work. At one point I started to breath heavily.

Then they used the same IV to insert a radio-active solution. This was followed by about 20 minutes of photographing my heart. It was repeated a second time.
