As the snow and ice begin to melt it slides gradually from my metal roof on a slow trip to the ground. There is just enough cold that nothing has yet actually broken from the roof and the result is that a four and one-half foot sheet of snow and ice has slid from the edge of my roof, curving toward the house. The more it slides the more it curves to the extent that icicles are now parallel with the ground and one almost touches my back bedroom window.
