I checked the Accuweather site for the 15 day forecast and after the slight warm up they said back to cold again. Anything can happen I suppose. I've been making some of my own gear and it rocks. I made a pair of VB socks for $1.50 opposed to $25 and a pair of Wiggy's style waders for $3.50 opposed to spending $50. They came out great actually better than Wiggys. Heatsealable nylon for the waders and silnylon for the VB socks. 2 yards of Sealable nylon for $3.96 and silnylon 2nds for around $5 per yard. The used the socks Sat. and they work great. Warm and as light as a feather. Consider making your booties out of Polarguard. You won't have to worry about wetness and they will be easier to make. I bought some Polarguard 3D from OWF and it's nice stuff, some 200 grams per yard thinsulate too. A couple layers of that would make superb booties with waterproof breathable material for the outer. I'm going to make a pair of W/B overbooties that will keep the elements out to go over my booties. I'm convinced that you can make better gear yourself than you could buy.” 7:52:08 AM 1/21/03 “Good morning, folks. I just got some booties from Campmor on sale for $9.96. Got some Polartec® 300 Fleece Booties for my granddaughter, too, on sale for $8.97. Real happy with both purchases. Balaclavas can cost a little money, so I guess it is great that you are good at making things, richb. I just use the hoods from sweat shirts. And a hunting jacket, that I purchased recently, has a detachable hood that can serve pretty well as a balaclava.
