There is lots of good hiking near LA. Hmmm, as long as you can dirve around 30 miles or so!

I live 7 miles N.E. of Disneyland.

I think it was Birch or Baume66 who gathered the last list of states and I just posted it. If someone wants to update it, I can reload it. Also, if you click on the name of each poster on a thread, it takes you to an information page where they may have inserted their home state.

LA hiking
Thanks for the links. These are my LA experiences so far. I've been to a bunch of the state parks in the Santa Monica mountains and while I've found the ocean views nice I find it a bit hot and dry for my taste. I've done segments of the backbone trail as well but I don't think that I really like the area for camping and am just generally dissatisfied with the SM mountains. I've been to Idyllwild and Joshua tree and thats what I've liked the best around LA so far. King's Canyon is great but a bit too far unless you have a three day weekend.

San Bernardinos
I'm checking it out now, its a great link. I fear I'm gonna have to by a bearikade, but should be fine counterbalancing until I can gather the funds. You recommend any of them? I've been up the Devils Slid Trail to Tahquitz, to suicide rock and also to San Jacinto Peak as well as done some stuff around the tram. I've not yet been to the San Gabriels.
