“Towndawg- i hiked at BSF this weekend and we hiked the whole area around Charitt lodge and came out at the Charitt Trail head.

Where is everyone suppose to park?

at that trail head there is enough spots for 24 cars if you squeeze them in real tight. And about 300 yards from there is another parking lot that can hold about another 24 cars.. that would equal 48 spaces. I myself will be there early, so i don't have anything to worry about. but for the others coming, do you have an idea of where they should park?

the lodge area is awesome!!! can't wait to go there.

and for all those wanting to hike as well. There is so much to see close to the camp.

also, is the field beside the lodge okay for everyone to camp at? or do we need to camp somewhere else and hike down? Are all the details worked out with the park and lodge?permits,etc...

just want to make sure that we're taken care of. looking forward to this one. when i was there this weekend, i mentioned that i was coming back down for this event and the young couple that maintains the lodge(not the general manager) didn't know anything about it. And the ranger at the park where all the special event permits are issued said that no one has told her(the one in charge of issueing these) about the event and said that to use the field by the lodge that we would have to get a permit from her. So, do we need to chip in for this permit? I'm fine for chipping in whatever to go towards paying for the permit. I think the park would really benefit from the funds that 300 backpackers would generate. Also, the couple at the lodge said if we could give them a heads up so they can buy extra cokes and candy bars. this event will great for the park to generate some revenues.

“I've talked to TD about this and I don't think everyone at BSF is "in the know" about TC2 but he has been talking to the Rangers there.

TD and I will be getting together in advance to check out the area and deal with any lingering issues such as parking and keeping the area clean. Sanitation has been handled (porta potties) as TD tells me.

Also, at this point in the game, i would like to tell some of my friends the details and personally for myself i would like to know. just want to make sure everybody is in the know.(including us and the park) want to make sure we are all on the same page. it's less than 6 weeks away. i'm not b1tchin with no solution. if things aren't set up all the way, okay so be it. The biggest thing we can all do right now is everyone attending needs to try and car pool or at the very least have your group meet at the local Walmart parking lot and take only one car to the parking area.
