“Hey man, what's another good trail to hike up there? I am looking for a trip out West with my brother. Any suggestion? Probably a 2-3 nighter.” 10:11:27 PM 7/24/02 “Jgeils, good to hear from you and sorry you missed the hike. I'm just getting ready to call it a night. I start work at the hospital at five so it's getting pretty late for this old man. See if you can find this book. It's titled "The Trail Guide To the Beartooths" by Bill Schneider. It lists most of the hikes and will be a great help. it costs $14.95 and amazon.com, or Barnes and Noble should both have it. Our scanner is down or I'd send you some of the info contained in it. Plus I leave for a two week trip into the Bridger-Teton National Park on Saturday so not much time to be of help. When I get home tomorrow I'll try and get some info to you. Talk to you then.” 10:43:16 PM 7/24/02 “Thanks man.” 11:11:05 PM 7/24/02 “Be sure to bring lots and lots of mary jane!” 11:35:03 PM 7/24/02 “Go anywhere out there and see all the great hights! I just love 1000's of feet! Jk 8D” 5:45:15 PM 7/25/02 “jgeils, worked this morning and hiked this afternoon. Any luck finding that book on amazon.com? Another nice loop trail is the Beartooth National Recreational Trail. The trailhead is adjacent to the Beartooth Highway and in Wyoming, but not far from the Montana border. I day hiked it last summer and if I recall it was 16-17 miles. You hike past Hauser Lake, Losekamp Lake, down Littlerock Creek and then past Stockade Lake. Fishing is fantasic and I've always seen elk, as well as moose. Bear sign, but no actual bear sighting. Go to topozone.com and plug in 44.9453, 109.4958. Those are the coordinates for the trailhead. From there you can follow the loop around. In that area there are dozens of other trips as well. Another great trip is what we call Rock Creek to Rock Creek. It's 19 miles and parallels the West fork of Rock Creek, then climbs over Sundance Pass, elevation 11,000 and then comes out the Lake Fork of Rock Creek. It does require a shuttle though. Spectacular scenery and good fishing as well. Moose, elk and mtn goats are usually seen.” 7:43:08 PM 7/25/02 “Thanks Geezr. That will be a couple of goods ones to look at.” 10:04:32 PM 7/25/02 “Are you ok? 8P” 8:36:19 PM 7/26/02 “Let me check . . . yep, I'm doin OK.” 8:41:11 PM 7/26/02 “Thats cool..... No more insane dreams huh? Ya know I could come out there with a bucket to get ya with. Hheheheheh!!!!!! 8P” 8:42:57 PM 7/26/02 “ ”8:56:15 PM 7/26/02 Geezr “What would be the closest airport to that loop trail. Also, is there a good place to take a shower afterwards that you know of. Just in case we needed to catch a flight the day we get finished.” 10:28:52 PM 7/26/02 “Jgeils, Cody, Wy would probably be the nearest, though Billings is but 2 hours + or - From Cody you'd just take the Chief Joseph Hwy to the junction with the Beartooth Hwy and turn right. You go past the Top Of The World Store and then just watch for the Beartooth Trail sign. Cody has a campground where I'm sure you could grab a shower for a minimal fee. Other than that, you'd probably have to get a hotel. The Top Of The World Store might let you clean up there as well.” 10:45:37 PM 7/26/02 “Thanks, you want to do that trail on a weekend sometime? If my brother can't go I may try to hook up with one or two of you guys if you want to go. I would like to do a 2 or 3 nighter. My tickets require a Saturday night stay or I would rather do the trip mid-week.” 10:49:48 PM 7/26/02 “Generally, weekends are out for me. I work at a hospital here, Friday thru Sunday. When you settle on a date I'll see what can be worked out . . . doubtful though.” 10:57:00 PM 7/26/02 “Hey Geezr! I received your 2 emails on my personal account and another one at work. Have you gotten my replies to your new address????!!!! Let me know if you got any of them. If not, something's goofed up - hmmmm.....” 2:10:02 PM 5/22/03 “Great. Now he's not even getting my TT posts....” 2:51:07 PM 5/22/03 “It sounds like he's living in a trailer down by the river. Maybe if we both send him some brain waves he'll log on...” 3:07:14 PM 5/22/03 “I thought it was a van down by the river...” 3:14:55 PM 5/22/03 “Oh, he's moved up from the van to a flashy fifth-wheeler!” 3:17:35 PM 5/22/03 “Beware the fifth-wheeler, you may never want to return home...” 3:19:53 PM 5/22/03 “From what I understand, it is his home for awhile! And, no, Weezr didn't kick him out!” 3:22:17 PM 5/22/03 “Yah, see what I mean? It's too late for him!” 3:22:53 PM 5/22/03 “See, if I were there, aero, I could go low tech and just go down and knock on his door. Of course, I'd have to get past the barkin' dogs and tipped over garbage cans....” 3:25:49 PM 5/22/03 “He'd better show up here pretty soon or we'll have way too much fun at his expense!” 3:30:05 PM 5/22/03 3:33:20 PM 5/22/03 “Oh Yeah, Geezr could be TT's answer to Rod Beck! We could all stop in for a beer after backpacking!” 3:46:37 PM 5/22/03 “We need to get him the neon martini glass though...” 3:47:49 PM 5/22/03 “Hopefully he'd have something better than Coors Lite!” 3:50:21 PM 5/22/03 “Just bumping this back to the top one time, although the G-man is supposedly on the road....” 10:48:36 AM 5/23/03 “Headin' to the Promised Land! he's going to need a few more wives!” 11:33:04 AM 5/23/03 “How does Weezr feel about that?” 11:56:43 AM 5/23/03 “Just popping this back up to the top - Geezr, read back to 5/22....” 12:19:02 PM 5/27/03 “OK everybody, check the back of the milkcartons- Geezr's missing!” 2:27:26 PM 5/27/03 “Still MIA!! Big Wave Dave - Have you seen him?!” 10:43:38 AM 5/29/03 Alive and Well In Salt Lake “Martyb, we're doing great. I've been e-mailing you but apparently they're not reaching you. Tried both addresses. Check the Yoho Gearing Up thread. Malinda is into her first week of orientation and liking the hospital. We went to REI yesterday and picked up hiking info and topo maps for trails in the Wasatch Front. Hoping to get out on Monday. Hoping to get to Sandy to see Big Wave Dave soon. Just been too busy getting everything set up for the six month stay.” 10:13:48 AM 5/30/03 “Bumping back to top....” 10:14:02 AM 5/30/03 “Dang! You beat me here by 14 seconds! Are you getting emails from other people OK?” 10:14:51 AM 5/30/03 “Just sent one from my personal address....” 10:16:41 AM 5/30/03 “Yeah, everyone else seems to be getting through. Just sent you another.” 10:17:29 AM 5/30/03 “...and just sent another from work. Sorry for the email troubleshooting clogging up the board everyone....” 10:18:34 AM 5/30/03 “Just got your email, Geezr - don't seem to have any trouble receiving yours.... Hmmmm, I'll add some backpacking discussion here to keep the post legit. I'm taking Cam to Big Basin for the Summer Solstice. We'll hike up to a ridgeline from our camp to catch the late sunset, fog permitting....” 10:20:26 AM 5/30/03 “Sounds like a great trip. I'm really beginning to feel great, though strength and endurance certainly need to be worked on. Found 24 Hr and will be heading there soon. Also got on the bike. Hard on the sternum but the legs felt pretty good.” 10:25:23 AM 5/30/03
