I get them as dry as possible: upside down for a day, right side up for a couple more. It never gets totally dry tho. I just rinse before filling again for good measure. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
My drinking tube never dries out.
If it was clean to begin with a little water left inside shouldn't harm it that much.

I usually run a solution of bleach and water thru the thing right before a trip to kill any nasty bugs.

I was at Gander Mountain a month ago and found this reduced from around $20 to $8 or so, so I figured, "What the heck," and bought it.

It's too much fun snaking that roto-rooter thing through the drinking tube. LOL!!!
