Long answer for the curious or bored: if you are not bored now you will be when you finish unless you are a nerd like me I work with plastics, metals, ceramics and elastomers. Some things are fairly easy to measure. When they are not they give 'em to us to figure out. Understanding Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is a large part of my job as I try to influence design types to use this tool to communicate to those of us who create or measure parts. Much of the time I sit around reading TT, er, no I actually DO work I "program" or rather create routines for prototype and assembly computer controlled measurement usually using a CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine) which has multi-sensor capability: vision, touch probe and laser. My nephew came to visit me to see what I did for work and he really got a kick out of how many times someone said the word "probe" around here. Others in my dept. do electrical calibrations while others do temperature sensor, torque, compression/extension and other physical calibrations. Probe Probe Probe you Beavis and B-head fans would enjoy it here.” 6:25:36 PM 7/25/02 unemployment is pretty bad as well “I'm an unemployed recent graduate from UofC and I think looking for jobs is far worse than any job I've ever had.” 7:10:00 PM 7/25/02 brooks “I'm in sociology, writing a dissertation in the area of marriage and the family.
