Sorry, I'll be at my cousin's wedding. Maybe you can convince the others!

FYI... just got an e-mail at the address I have listed in my profile here that said it was from michiganmountaineers@yahoogroups.com

Scanned the .pif attachment before attempting to open on the iMac at work. It said it had the W32.Netsky.k virus

I figure it's just another case of a fake or stolen address to spam viruses... but might be worth a check. I don't know if there is such an email as given above or not.

And in case some "bot" has grabbed a bunch of addresses off TT and is using that MM address as a logical one a TTer might open, well, beware....

Hi mm'ers!
Long time!
I've been in Rochester Hills working for the last couple weeks. Don't have the home e-mail acct anymore, and I can't access my work email here. Didn't want ya to think I died or sumpthin.
Nice place ya got here. I'm having fun, but I do miss home.
Looks like there was a tornado down RL's way last night. Wonder how he is?

Yes, thanks Sass. Thank Birch for me too.
That's another thing - I lost my cellphone memory, the only place I kept any numbers.

I did run the S. part of Bald Mountain last Fri on the way home. It was like 90. Kicked my arse nicely!

Hmm, so no email and no phone numbers eh? Is your cell number still the same? I could call and give you a whole list of MMer's numbers.

Hey all!

I'm at Higgins Lake, at the McMullin Conference Center for a class. Yesterday we went to Hartwick Pines, today we're visiting some area wetlands, and tomorrow we're canoeing on the Au Sable. Nice way to earn a few graduate credits, eh?

While we were at Hartwick Pines yesterday, I wished you were with me! I thought of the trip on the Manistee River Trail, and our quick stop at Hartwick on the way home.

Weather here is awfully rainy today, which will make the wetlands all that much more fun.

What else is happening in MI?

Just setting up the programs on this new computer. Kind of fun. I'll be in Saginaw next week for a conference. I'm thinking of checking out the shoreline between Saginaw and Tawas City during one of the evenings.

Smiley, do you have any can't-miss suggestions for that area?

Thanks in advance.

My sister and her family live in Iron Mountain. My brother-in-law is a teacher at Kingsford High. I love that area right around the WI border.

Tarabull and I will be moving to Marquette next week.

I've always wanted to see Marquette but never have. I'm coming through that area on my way to the BWCA as I'm driving up through Michigan rather than around Chicago and up through Wisconson (the vertical Kansas IMHO).

Yeah Stovie, c'mon up sometime. Ya gotta see it during the winter. Bring DDX, see if he can handle the cold. They play golf up here but not year 'round.

Okay, I can see that. Never mind.

Mmmmm....

You say that your family lives near Iron Mountain and you love that area right next to Wisconsin.

Mmmmm...

If you look at a map, and draw a straight line west from the Mackinaw Bridge, you will find that that section of the UP lies south of the bridge.

So, while you will be an actual Yooper once you eat the requisite number of pasties and learn the official national language of Superior, I'm not sure your family can make such a claim.

A family member currently lives in Iron Mountan. I lived in Gladstone for 25 years. Your bridge/straight line theory, while being accurate (though terribly complex) is not applicable here.

Yes, stop and see me! I'm not all that familiar with the area as of yet, but you should stop to see me.

Anywhoo, my trip to Higgins Lake is over as of right now. I had a severe allergic reaction to an antibiotic I was taking, and ended up in the hospital in Grayling this morning. I'm missing the Kirkland Warbler trip right now, and don't get to canoe either. G is headed up here right now to pick me up. I'm so bummed, but I feel so awful - horrible rash, swelling, and my throat closed up a bit too. I'm full of drugs right now, and am gonna go lay down until G gets here. I'm so sad I can't stay, but I want to go home REALLY bad. :(

G and I have plans to go camping next week at the falls that start with a T and have a long name. I won't even attempt to spell with all the drugs I'm on.

Catch up with you folks tomorrow, maybe.

Thanks!

Hey, Smiley!

Would you guys like to go out to dinner on Wednesday, Aug. 2? My last conference session ends at 5:30PM and we don't have to be back until the dance starts at 9PM back at Saginaw Valley SU.

Email me at eriehiker@yahoo.com if you are interested.
